Federer says he’s better now than ten years ago

(Note: This article was orignally posted in April 2017.) I asked Juan Martin Del Potro at the 2017 Miami Open if he feels Roger Federer could be playing his finest tennis this year and the intelligent Argentine hardly objected to that notion. The next day at the Miami Open press conference, Pete Bodo followed up on that story angle by asking Federer himself if it is possible that he actually is playing his best tennis now at age 35? rafana By Scoop Malinowski The rivalry of Federer vs Nadal is one of the greatest in tennis and perhaps sports history. These two titans have had dozens of epic duels on all surfaces in just about all of the biggest arenas of tennis. Yet not once has there ever existed even a hint of any dislike, resentment, personal grudge or anger between the two. Their battles have always been the utmost displays of fine sportsmanship meshed with violent, beautiful tennis pitting a bloodthirsty bull against the greatest matador of all time. Did Roger Semi-Tank Montreal Final to Zverev?

FedCincyreturngoodSLIDER[1] Alexander Zverev is surging right now and playing the best tennis of his life. He won Washington DC last week and today he added his second ATP Masters 1000 title in Montreal, dominating soon-to-be World No. 1 Roger Federer 63 64. The first set was close but Zverev took the early lead with his lethal serving and punishing ground strokes. Federer tried everything in his arsenal, including drop shot approaches and varied assaults that only he can create but "The Kid" handled everything the veteran maestro probed him with. fedkarlrWe all know Roger Federer plays tennis like a gentleman wearing a top hat and tuxedo. Heck, maybe someday Nike will design such an outfit for the King. What if Roger Federer round his sixth gear turbo power? Continue to read full article...

Federer Betterer Than Everer

0607-113437Roger Federer annihilated Alexander Zverev in the Hall final yesterday 61 63 and played a quality of tennis which arguably could be his very best level. The soon-to-be 36 year old blitzed Zverev with everything, including baseline superiority, pinpoint serving, serve and volley, lethal shot placements and particularly the drop shot. Federer stung the rising #NEXTGEN star repeatedly with damaging drop shots including one backhand finesse drop - off a deep Zverev drive - from behind the baseline. Zverev didn't even make a move for the ball. Continue to read full article...
