Jean Kirshenbaum’s Love and Will to Play Tennis

I finally met and had lunch with tennis penpal friend on Friday at Mediterraneo on Main Street in Sarasota, the upscale super Italian restaurant owned by Daniele Baroni, the other half of Mirjana Lucic Baroni.

Jean is currently handicapped by an ongoing foot leg challenge which prevents her from walking without a walker or assistance however her love and will to play tennis refuses to be denied…

Jean’s words…

If you are ever really bored and desperate for something to do, come on out to the court and watch me struggle to hit tennis balls; I began with this technique 2 years ago and can now hit unassisted from the baseline.
Together with teaching pro Jeff Lewis of Total Tennis (Sarasota), I am developing a program called restorative  tennis for people with mobility problems or who are coming back from injury.

I began this way about 2 years ago.

Restorative Tennis

Off the tennis court because of injury or compromised mobility?  Out of the game you love? Restorative tennis may be right for you

Whether yours is a short-term respite from tennis, or a longer- term issue, restorative tennis could get you back on the court. You don’t have to give up the sport you love.  We will help you readjust your tennis to achieve what you are able to do and get back on the court and play tennis. It is a partnership between you and tennis professional to help readjust your movement on court, or readjust how you hold and use a racket to reduce or eliminate pain when you hit a tennis ball.

Readjusted tennis may be, just what you need to be able to get back on the tennis court, and play the sport you love.

    Jean,

No wonder Judy adores you. I am sure I would too.

Keep me in your loop please.

    With anticipation,

    Dorree

I don’t know if I ever knew a person who loved tennis more than Jean, to have the will to go out on court and try to play when you can’t walk without assitance, is something very special and inspiring.
