Karolina Pliskova told a Czech Republic media outlet that the WTA is not promoting the sport or the players sufficiently: “I feel that it’s not entirely ideal, even though each of today’s top girls has something to offer. I won’t comment on the tennis, but charisma plays a role too. Sharapova and Serena were huge personalities, even in the marketing world. You can’t compare today’s girl with them. And I think that in this situation, the WTA isn’t helping much either. It doesn’t seem to me that they promote it well. Women’s tennis now seems sidelined, not as many people go to it as before. When I was playing well and these big names were still active, the level of everything around was higher. Girls have groups on WhatsApp, they discuss it. But I don’t comment on it, changes take a long time and I don’t want to put energy into it. I am not at the beginning of my career anymore so it goes beyond me.” (via iSport Cz)
Again, I offered the WTA six months of WTA Biofile interviews, the best way to promote player’s personalities and stories, but the WTA declined my offer. Check out my Biofile with Marta Kostyuk
