Djokovic 60 Minutes Interview Observations

By Scoop Malinowski

Novak Djokovic kindly gave an interview to the 60 Minutes correspondent who repeatedly attempted to assassinate his character for years. The feature failed to capture the essence of the greatest champion of tennis history.

Again Jon Wertheim took some cheap shots at Djokovic, “There are so many dimensions to Djokovic. He may polarize, but he’s remarkably accessible…”

That’s false. It’s always been the anti Djokovic’s biased coverage and misportrayal of Djokovic that was polarizing and divisive. Djokovic does his job, he plays tennis and wins tournaments. The tennis media wants to control Djokovic’s image as negative for the manipulative agendas of the establishment. “The media has the power to make the innocent look guilty and the guilty look innocent.” – Malcolm X.

Along with celebrating Djokovic’s success, a considerable amount of the ten minute feature interview focused on his infrequent anger outbursts on court during stressful, pressure-packed matches, the decision to reject the Covid vaccine drug shot in favor of relying on his healthy diet and lifestyle, and the tensions of playing 109 professional matches against those two arch rivals Federer and Nadal. The interviewer even tried to minimize Djokovic’s renowned mental strength as just a “gift” which prompted a quick correction from the man who has won a record 24 Grand Slam titles, earned the ATP no. 1 ranking for a record 403 weeks and achieved winning head to head records vs both Federer (27-23) and Nadal (30-29). Djokovic informed Wertheim that his mental strength is the result of work. Wertheim still may not understand Djokovic’s incredible, astounding career is not some kind of freebie gift from the tennis gods but a lifetime of work, dedication, sacrifice, perseverance and fighting spirit second to none.

Another fault of the interview feature was not enough time being devoted to Djokovic’s philanthropic activities and his generosity in helping natural disaster victims, floods in Serbia, fires in Australia, Ukraine. The off court efforts – during his own career as a champion – to help lower ranked, struggling pro players to earn more money, building and or renovating more than fifty preschools in Serbia, the work of his Foundation and tennis academy and supporting aspiring pro players like Hamad Medjedovic.

No, 60 Minutes, Wertheim and the mainstream media disappointed again. The segment should have been much better, more insightful and revealing.

They should have included the video of Djokovic giving his racquet to kid at French Open a couple of years ago, or the drink of water with the French Open ballkid under the umbrella. And the time he gave the little girl his Head racquet after winning Wimbledon. These are some of the many golden moments of Djokovic’s career the media ignores.

Question I would have asked:

What was the rockbottom moment during the process of when the media conspired to assassinate your character, reputation and career?

When the media made you the villain of the world, what was some of the most energizing support sources you received which helped you get back up on your feet?

Can you say which backstabbers and disloyalty hurt you the most?

Since your return to competing after being invited and then deported to Australia, what parts of the world embraced you the most?

Have you noticed a change in the public perception of you since you came back and won Australian Open and since?

There’s a lot to choose from but what is the greatest moment of your career?

And what was the most painful moment?

Spot on commentary Scoop. Wertheim and others, a disgrace

I only watched a little bit of the interview.

The thing is, Djokovic went into this thing willingly. He could’ve politely said, “No, thank you.” And he certainly knows that Jon Wertheim isn’t exactly his BFF. So, if they sold him short (again), then Djokovic shares quite a bit of the blame. 😉

Sam, overall it was favorable coverage of Djokovic and it got his positive message and character out to a large audience. It was another victory over the establishment and deep state.

Good to hear, Scoop. The part I saw, where Wertheim was asking Djokovic about his “vaccine” stance, the former seemed to be acting reasonably professionally. 😏

Sam, I found out today Sports Illustrated named Deion Sanders as sportsman of the year, the coach of Colorado Buffaloes college football team which achieved a losing record. To award Sanders over Djokovic is ridiculous and proves SI is a joke and not deserving of any respect or time. Wertheim should resign and let someone else run the show. Sanders team had a poor record, something like 4-9. Novak broke historic records at age 36 in the most challenging sport on earth.

But wait a minute, Scoop—Djokovic isn’t BLACK!! Well, at least last time I checked. 😉

Novak broke historic records at age 36 in the most challenging sport on earth.

Well, the good part is that most intelligent folks realize that these faux awards mean less than nothing. I mean, as long as Djokovic takes home the actual hardware, who really cares about these powder-puff “trophies”?? 👸

True Sam, the snubs by the fake news media just digs their own graves of credibility deeper and deeper.

Well, Scoop, they’ve dug so deep that pretty soon they’ll be hitting ROCK!! 🪨

Sam they are buried themselves. 2024 will be another very interesting year.

Scoop, yes, it likely will be interesting. Hard to really know what to expect. 🤔
