Brooksby Suspended, Opelka Calls “BS”

Jenson Brooksby has been suspended for 18 months by an independent tribunal after he committed “three whereabouts failures in a twelve-month period“, ITIA confirms. The sanction will be backdated to July 5, 2023 and end on January 4, 2025.

The 22 year old from California reached a career high best ranking of 33 in June 2022. His career match record is 45-33.

The last match Brooksby played was in the round of 32 at Australian Open vs Tommy Paul, a 61 64 63 loss. Brooksby was ranked 39 in the world in January at AO. Brooksby had a 5-2 match record in 2023 but was bothered by wrist problems.

Brooksby needed surgery on his left wrist in March and then a second surgery on is right wrist in May of 2023.

The news about his failure to take three drug tests was reported in July 2023.

American compatriot Reilly Opelka commented on Brooksby’s plight: “This same organization allows amphetamines to be ingested but cuts no slack for a missed test… unreal. Can’t pick and choose where you want to be strict.”

“Players are getting zapped off addys (presumably Adderall) but you enter the wrong hotel address and you get suspended for 18 months… BS.”

Brooksby replied: “The crazy thing is I was in the hotel I said I would be at. I was in my room at the given time and my physio was with me. I had a room number assigned to my name and they said I hadn’t checked in. I was there for four nights already. So I am getting 18 months for this.”

Stay tuned…

Scoop, so do you think there was an agenda in play here? 🤔

  • Scoop Malinowski · October 31, 2023 at 9:00 pm

Sam no I don’t think Brooksby was targeted. If he was targeted, my only guess would be he was targeted by Nike, On, New Balance which has control over most of the young Americans (Fritz, Foe, Korda, Paul, Shelton, etc) and they wanted to keep Brooksby out of interrupting the progression of the group as he was a threat. Brooksby is sponsored by small company Uomo Sport. But I would not support that allegation theory. It’s perplexing how he could miss that third test after missing the first two, also the facial acne is a suspicion and maybe the strong fitness in long matches.

Scoop, so you think Brooksby was treated mostly fairly then?

  • Scoop Malinowski · November 5, 2023 at 7:40 am

Sam, I don’t know why Brooksby was targeted. I asked the CEO of Uomo Sport, a small company which sponsors Brooksby, if he suspects Nike may be behind this play against Brooksby because they see Uomo as a threat to Nike, he replied, “No comment.”

That’s interesting, Scoop. Sounds like there may be a bit more to the story. 🤔

A young American star you would think would have protection and white privilege? White privilege was always a myth to incite anti white racism.

  • Sam · November 11, 2023 at 4:25 pm

Well, Scoop, if he were black, he probably would never have gotten suspended. 😏

Sam, yes I don’t see Eubanks, Foe or Shelton ever being suspended. Looks like Brooksby was targeted. Or maybe he really was doing something, the facial acne, the super stamina, the big results. But no white privilege for Brooksby. Fritz, Paul, Korda, Foe, Shelton, Eubanks are all more marketable for the establishment.

In other news, it looks like Racquet magazine has reached the last chapter. Proud to say, http://www.tennis-prose.com is still going strong and will continue to improve. https://defector.com/racquet-magazine-future-up-in-the-air-after-one-cofounder-removes-the-other I was at the US Open event at 30 Rock in late August and it was shocking how much she spent on that, around $200,000, crazy spending for no gains other than self promotion. The magazine was very good but her spending habits were wreckless.

Yes, Scoop, it could well be a combination. I believe Halep was targeted too. While I do think she was doping, it was probably no more than anyone else. 🧐

I guess Caitlin was getting some really expensive manicures. 😉

Sam, Halep is the all time highest wta money earner after the Williams, perhaps they had enough of the tiny over 30 and less marketable Romanian as an elite player?

  • Scoop Malinowski · November 15, 2023 at 7:23 am

$400,000 for two promotional parties which were more ego shows than business growing was disastrous. Hope they find new backers, the magazine itself was actually very good despite the bias. Sad to see business incompetence doomed the operation.

Even more than Sharapova?? 😱 Wow, didn’t know that, Scoop.

perhaps they had enough of the tiny over 30 and less marketable Romanian as an elite player?

Yeah, that probably played some role.

$400,000 for two promotional parties which were more ego shows than business growing was disastrous.

I guess her motto was: You gotta fight, for your right . . . to paaaaaaaarty!!! 😹

Sad to see business incompetence doomed the operation.

Sounds like they had a different kind of racket going on there. 🏸 😉

Sam, Sharapova earned far more in endorsement money than Halep but Halep earned more in WTA prize money, more than every player in history besides the Williams. That was very surprising to learn a few years ago so I can’t forget it.

Okay, thanks, Scoop—yeah, that is still surprising, though. 🤔
