Meet Marta Kostyuk

The fifteen-year-old wonder has emerged as a star in Melbourne by winning two rounds of the Australian Open. After beating 25 seed Shuai Peng and Olga Rogowska both in straight sets, Marta Kostyuk will now meet fellow Ukrainian - and the favorite to win the entire tournament, Elina Svitolina in the third round. Here are a few snippets from Kostyuk's press conference yesterday... Q. What do you think makes you such a great player so young? What's been the key to your success? MARTA KOSTYUK: Well, I heard a lot of times that I'm talented, and I know that, but I know that only talent will not help me to play good. So I can say that I'm working pretty hard. My preseason was quite long and very tough mentally, because I didn't play tournaments for two months. I was only practicing. So it was tough. But it was worth it. So, yeah. federer By Scoop Malinowski The top seed and ATP world no. 1 Rafael Nadal lost an epic five setter last year in the final to Roger Federer despite being up 3-1 in the fifth set, but the 31-year-old lefty has not played an official match yet this year and his last match was a loss in three sets at the ATP World Tour Finals to no. 7 seed David Goffin. Federer says he’s better now than ten years ago

(Note: This article was orignally posted in April 2017.) I asked Juan Martin Del Potro at the 2017 Miami Open if he feels Roger Federer could be playing his finest tennis this year and the intelligent Argentine hardly objected to that notion. Is Kyrgios Taking Tennis To New Zenith?

nickk By Scoop Malinowski Nick Kyrgios, who just decimated the Brisbane field, to win his first ATP title in two years with a straight set final win vs Ryan Harrison, holds a very rare, most impressive distinction in his career. Kyrgios is the only man in history to beat prime Federer, Nadal and Djokovic the first time he played each. That is an incredible achievement and most likely a feat that will never be matched.
