Sarasota Open 2019

1486516798508.jpeg Spoke with Michael Redlicki yesterday, he like many other players are just not happy with these new rules of ATP and ITF Tours and the point system and how lower ranked players are being weeded out. The qualifying tournament for this Sarasota Open had just two matches. The foundation of tennis - the young players - are being pushed out. It's too hard to make money in pro tennis and the sport will suffer. Continue to read full article...

Insider Stories At Sarasota Open

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA There's a lot of history here at the Laurel Oaks Country Club, the site of this year's edition, the tenth Sarasota Open ATP Challenger. A long time figure here clued me in on several stories and anecdotes I had never heard before. Let me share some... It was contested about seven years ago and this battle of the sexes did not go so well for Martina. Navratilova was competitive with the Australian, but the pattern of the match was that eventually her short balls would allow MacPherson to drop shot her and those drop shots were, too put it mildly, not taken well by Martina. Sarasota Open Qualies

By Scoop Malinowski After three sets of doubles on Longboat Key at 8:45 I decided to scooter over to check out the new site for the Sarasota Open which is now being staged at Laurel Oaks, a good 45 minute ride south west from Longboat. The new venue is at Laurel Oaks Country Club, on the east side of interstate 75, so this year's Open should be more accessible to tennis enthusiasts in Tampa and closer to 75.
