Jack Sock lost a heartbreaker today in the third round to Jason Kubler 62 46 57 76 63 but he proved finally he’s a Grand Slam force again with new coach Robby Ginepri. Sock and Coco Gauff are a favorite to win the mixed title.
Taylor Fritz is quietly cruising through his draw by defeating Alex Molcan in three sets today, he’s into the fourth round, as is Brandon Nakashima who routed Daniel Galan today 64 64 61.
Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe are already advanced to the fourth round.
Jenson Brooksby could have joined his four compatriots but he fell in four sets to Chilean Cristian Garin 62 63 16 64.
The shocker today is that Iga Swiatek was eliminated by the unpredictable drama queen Alize Cornet 64 62.
Amanda Anisimova played Coco Gauff on center court, a decision that irritated many tennis fans, and beat her 67 61 62. Most court observers wanted to see the blockbuster Kyrgios vs Tsitsipas showdown on center court, not court one.
Tsitsipas is working with a new co-coach along with his dad is the Australian Mark Philippoussis, who was a very dangerous player in his day at Wimbledon and hard courts. Philippoussis once had Pete Sampras on the ropes at Wimbledon, he was up a set and had a break point for the break in the second set when tragedy struck and he blew out his knee and had to retire the match while he was outplaying Sampras.
Simona Halep has quietly cruised through the draw, today she beat Magdalena Frech of Poland 64 61 to reach fourth round.
Novak Djokovic is playing perfect says his second round victim Thanasi Kokkinakis and he appears headed to a QF showdown with Carlos Alcaraz who said this week he played the best match of his life on grass.
Some surprises still in the gentleman’s draw are Botic Van de Zandschulp and David Goffin, who practiced today with Djokovic.
Van de Zandschulp beat Gasquet today in four sets. I saw a tennis friend Steve at the tennis courts here in NJ who told me he’s reading Gasquet’s book in French despite not being able to understand French, he’s reading it by google translate for each sentence. He said he learned some interesting details about Gasquet’s life and career and hopefully will share this information in a future feature here at www.tennis-prose.com

Martina came down with Covid?LMAO.. Bet she had Courtitis. Probably didn’t want to even look at Court. Shocked BJK agreed to let her in the parade. Thought she had more power..
Agassi and Graf really ran away from Tennis. Not shocking. Sampras seems to have no use for these ceremonies, either.
Becker should have “ Zoomed in” from Prison..

Harold your interpretation of the duck makes sense and it shows Martina is a coward. She should have the guts to face Court. But a vampire hides from the light of the sun and truth too. Graf barely watches tennis (Stubbs told me this for my Facing Steffi book) and she can’t be bothered being paraded around Wimbledon like a zoo animal. Agassi has had enough with being a celebrity too. Or maybe Steffi and Andre are protesting all the politics, agendas, corruption and hypocrisy in tennis today? Pete probably wanted an appearance fee )
