Huge Upset! Buse Beats Jarry in Davis Cup

This has to be the biggest upset of the year so far.  Ignacio Buse beat Nicolas Jarry in three sets in Davis Cup, Buse is ranked 436, Jarry is no. 20. 19 year old Buse was a very good junior, from Peru, trying to adapt to ATP. He’s beaten Hugo Dellien and almost beat Alejandro Tabilo 46 67 in the last six months so he’s got something.

I watched some videos of Buse on IG, and he’s got that fire you like to see in a young player, the fire that stands out. It shows self belief and hunger. Now the results are happening. Also Buse is a redhead like Sinner. This kid may be something special. To beat Jarry in Davis Cup is an extraordinary result.

Jarry made a QF in January and lost first round at AO to Cobolli.

Jarry was 1.02 odds. Meaning You won $2 on a $100 bet. Buse was probably 15-to-1 or something. We saw something like this a few years ago when Schwarzman lost to some unknown, on clay in DC. Can’t remember who. I recall that Schwarzman was such a favorite that bets on him were not even offered from what i saw.

Cory, I remember that odd loss by Diego Schwartzman to the ITF junior ranked 63 46 36 against the completely unknown Daniil Ostapenkov. Carlos losing to Maroszan was a similar shocking loss. Big names taking losses like that could make the astute bettor a fortune.

The other night in Dallas ATP250, two American doubles guys (never seen em before), Allen & Steinhausen, were +2000 vs. Nava / Shelton (who were -8000). Translation is you had to risk 8000 to win 100 for a bet on shelton/nava, and you got 20-t0-1 odds on the underdogs. Shelton/Nava won in the 3rd set TB 10-8. Somebody was puking in their soup during that TB.

Cory, I never heard of those two either. Hope there were no betting irregularities for that match.
