Richard Williams arrived with his lady friend in a dark gray Mercedes SUV at 11:50 am.
Serena looks really nice in this white Nike outfit with the sky bloue, dark blue and lime neon lemon striping, with blue wristbands, I think it’s one of the coolest looks I’ve seen her in.
Serena holds at 15 in the first game. An underlying theme in this match could be the rumored relationship of Maria with Dimitrov, who supposedly rejected Serena and is now with Maria. Not sure about if there really is a “love triangle” in effecft but these rumors have been floating in the press room.
Maria always looks super in her various Nike gear, this gray, green and yellow visor look fantastic. Maria punctuates her first service hold at 15 with an intense “Come on!”
Maria has not beaten Serena since 2004.
Super intense match so far, both are shreiking and yelling come ons after almost every point and it’s only 1-1! Grudge match anyone? High HIGH quality tennis here.

Deuce again, on Serena’s serve. 1-1. Both are are really into this. Maria giving it her all already, Serena can still hit fifth gear. Serena getting deep penetration, saves another break point as Maria sails a forehand long.

ABout ten deuces in that third game, but suddenly Serena’s forces Maria to net a forehand and backhand and she holds for 2-1.

Serena has a cold blooded ruthlessness about her demeaner here. Almost maybe like this is personal. Maria holds at 15, 2-2. These are two great champions both at their best…

Maria took the first set with one break and was in control of the second up a break but Serena stormed back. Serena held for 4-3 with two nice volleys on her only net venture of the day – a sign of crowing confidence and comfort. Serena rode out the set from there 6-3. You get the feeling Maria started the match at 110% – at her best – Serena is just starting to reach her highest level of tennis. Can Maria raise it up a notch? We’ll see in this third set of a very special match.

Richard Williams is seated in the photo pit and has gotten up to leave and come back several times now. Coach Patrick is glued to his seat the entire match so far.

Serena up 2-0 in the third, that’s six straight games from 2-3 down in the second.

Serena ten straight games, closes it out with a bagel. Richard signed autographs at 3-0. Did anyone get the license plate of the truck that ran over Maria? Interesting exchange during the Mary Jo interviews, Maria makes it clear she looks forward to the next time she can play Serena. Serena’s turn she said she can’t wait to play Maria again it’s always a great match for the fans. These two may respect each other as arch rivals but personally I think there’s a hidden grudge underneath, and Dimitrov is a factor in the equation. Richard was on court in the corner watching the awards part, he and Moratoglu kept their distance again, there was a person between them in the camera pit the whole match. Richard got up and came back at least five times during the match, he leaves then returns. Awesome final. This was a special match.

Remember when Henin beat both Williams sisters back to back at the US Open? It’s a feat that seems even more incredible now.
Serena is still dominating all the years later. Nice to see this kind of throwback final.

Not too many players with the iron will and steely focus of Henin Steve, but if anyone can do it today, it’s Azarenka, and maybe Maria. Maria said in her press conf yesterday that she will definitely beat Serena soon. Very interesting what both said about each other, it’s game on for these two.
