Franklin Tiafoe Tries Futures

Franklin Tiafoe, the twin brother of budding American star Frances, took a couple of shots at Futures this month in upstate New York.

Franklin, who played one year of college scholarship tennis in Delaware at Salisbury University last year, lost in the first round of both of his Futures qualifying matches.

Last week in Buffalo, 20-year-old Tiafoe lost to Canadian Sasha Pachnev, 76 06 06. This week in Rochester, Tiafoe lost to Canadian Ivan Mitric 16 36.

Meanwhile, brother Frances will take on fellow American Jared Donaldson today in first round action at Queens Club.

Chazz- yes, I forgot about Miami. Worth keeping an eye on then.

In Birmingham Kvitova is crushing Julia G but I notice TC have snaffled the rights so no free coverage anywhere and no highlights. I really hope this isn’t an indicator for W’don – TC can’t block BBC coverage but they can stop highlights. So bye bye tennis for me perhaps.

Did manage to see enough of Petra to predict if she keeps this level I can’t see many players beating her on the grass. So smooth and competent and knowing every inch of the court. Julia gathered 5 games and that was no disgrace.
