Biofile Felipe Alarcon Interview

Status: International Master Professional of the PTR (Professional Tennis Registry).

Resides: Bradenton, FL

First memory of tennis: I started to play tennis when I was 14 years old. Playing tennis with my dad and my brother.

Tennis inspirations: Roger Federer, Andres Alarcon brother played Davis Cup for Ecuador, reached an ATP world ranking of 351 and defeated Vince Spadea at 1994 Wimbledon qualies 2R 75 64).

First famous player you met or encountered: Andres Gomez. In Quito, Ecuador. In my club, than I’m a member.

Last book read: Bollettieri, Changing The Game.

Greatest career moment: First, I played the final of the Australian Open Amateur 2004 at Rod Laver Arena. Second, Speaker at the ITF World Coaches Conference 2023 in Colombia.

Most painful career moment: Missing one of my mentors, Nick Bollettieri.

Funny tennis memory: No answer.

Favorite players to watch: Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Carlos Alcaraz, Andres Alarcon.

Embarrassing tennis memory: I don’t think I have one.

Strangest match: Semifinal USTA 55’s in Longboat Key, the year 2023. (Lead match 5-4 serving for the first set and then lost nine straight games. Later found out the court the match was played on was named after the opponent Todd Schlorf’s father Dick Schlorf.)

Why do you love tennis: Because tennis is like life, you need to learn, improve, fight, recover, coordinate, small details, mental strength, patience.

Favorite sport outside tennis: Soccer and golf.

Favorite artists: Rolling Stones, Coldplay, U2, Phil Collins, Def Leppard, Pink Floyd.

People qualities most admired: Integrity, honesty, humility, positivity, no envy.

    I forgot to tell you the match at Longboat Key, the first set last 1 hour and 32 minutes., Heart beat M 167. I was injured in the 2nd set in my hamstring (First time in a tournament). That it means I’m getting older 😄

    Rumors swirled that the Schlorf family ghosts on that court named in the honor of the Schlorfs conspired to give you the hamstring strain )
