Capriati Blasts Sharapova’s Drug Cheating

capriatiTennis legend Jennifer Capriati is not buying Sharapova’s explanation for her positive drug test earlier today – Sharapova confessed that she used a drug that was banned at the beginning of the year which caused the positive test at the Australian Open – today on Twitter Capriati tweeted the following: Im extremely angry and disappointed. I had to lose my career and never opted to cheat no matter what.i had to throw in the towel and suffer *** i didn’t have the high priced team of drs that found a way for me to cheat and get around the system and wait for science to catch up **** the responses are exactly what i am talking about. everything based on illusion and lie driven by the media for over 20 yrs. beyond unfair **** something is wrong with the whole system. The intentions of the system was never morally grounded to begin with **** I just think it takes away from the sport and the hard work if true. Yes its hard to be kicked when down, when injured and out **** Everyone reading what’s written and assuming it’s true is wrong. It’s just wrong. all of it not true. Nothing of what u read is true *** People being taken down for speaking the truth. People that have the power to take people down do and think they can. That’s why I am vocal *** It’s all not true. I was given the human right to be happy and live a life of happiness not my life being told as a lie and taken from me **** All the lies have robbed me of my life at some point enough is enough and a line must be drawn or you must fight back for pride and dignity **** What’s the point of someone taking a heart medicine that helps your heart recover faster unless you have a heart condition? Is that accurate? **** It’s always about one thing that benefits everyone.#money *** The advantages are so subtle they can be just a hair width difference. that gives you only what you need to know to reach that extra level **** Sometimes it’s all about what gives you the most confidence to win *** How does being passionate and protective of your sport in a way make you a hater? **** Why is this medication banned now? **** If this medication helped me to comeback again would everyone be alright with me taking it? ****
How much did it take away from the other persons food plate? **** In my opinion of its all true every title should be stripped. This is other people’s lives as well **** You want to see someone who cares about their sport? Read @JenCapriati’s timeline. That is how we should react. With anger, not sympathy. *** At almost 39 years old having been the one named to carry the torch at 13 for American tennis I don’t have to prove anything nor defend *** This is the drug which caused the positive test — http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25847280

Woz definitely needs a good ” Mixed” win, to get her singles career back on track.

Harold you are right – and Oudin needs another one too 🙂

Yeah and Jack Sock has been scorching since he won Wimby doubles. Btw, Mmoh almost beat Smyczek.

Sock is around 25 in the world right now – excellent ranking in these tough times – Smee just nipped Tommy Paul 75 in the third at IW final round of qualies – Now Smee gets Delpo in first round –

Smyczek keeps generation too much hype at bay, going 3-1 against the future since October. Beats Fritzer, Mmoh, Paul. These players should study Smee, who despite a fluctuating ranking is a better player every year. I like that Smee may lose to guys like Kozlov and then the next time around beats them.

Smyczek. If these guys had Smees work ethic they’d be top fifty now. They don’t.

Andrew: I think they all do have the work ethic but they don’t have the experience that Smee has – years and years of ATP tour experience vs the best players – don’t forget these kids he’s beating are fresh out of juniors –

    Andrew,

These kids are just that…kids! The fact that Mmoh got to 7-5 in the third on Smee shows you that these kids have much more upside than Smee. He’s not a big-time player, but watch Tiafoe, he’s schooling Fritz now in IW and he’s clearly the more physical, speedy and physically-mature player than Fritz who looks kind of weak.

This kid Tiafoe just turned 18, give him three years he’s be Top 10 and maybe No. 1.

  • Moskova Moskova · March 10, 2016 at 7:22 pm

    Haha….tiafoe top 10+ is a long shot..

Wow what a display by both Tiafoe and Fritz – so close and such a thrilling match with sensational action – Tiafoe saved his best for last and closed it out with three superb points at the end punctuated by two huge forehands and serves which a year ago was said to be his weak shots – Fritz still looks physically coltish – he will be a stallion in a few years – just a fantastic match and American tennis is surely going to thrive again post Djokovic –

Very enjoyable match, Fritz Tiafoe, you could tell with all the coaches watching there isn’t lot invested in these 2, it was a little like watching Agassi Courier, Chang Sampras play each other when they were starting, same feel. Tiafoe will be a tough out next match.

I think what the match showed you is that you can have the big serve, forehand, but if a guy is a better athlete than you, faster, quicker, he’s going to win most of the time.

They both fell during points but when Tiafor fell he was able to get up and finish (and win) the point, great athleticism
