Biofile: Lukas Rosol Interview

Rosol

Rosol

By Scoop Malinowski

Status: ATP no. 78.

First Tennis Memory: For me it was like school. I was going from morning to like 1-2 o’clock in the school. Then I went to another lesson in tennis. So it was every day the same.

Tennis Inspirations: Was Patrick Rafter.

Last Book Read: It was Ivan Lendl.

Greatest Sports Moment: Second round against Rafa (Wimbledon 2012).

Most Painful Moment: When my dad (Emil) died. After I won Bucharest for him (2013).

Strangest Match: The worst match I played was Bordeaux against Marc Gicquel. I was leading 5-0 in the third set against him. And had two match points and it was first round and then he won the tournament.

Embarrassing Tennis Memory: If I was playing against big guys, big names. I didn’t win many games from Djokovic since now. Let’s see, maybe in future I can make more.

Favorite Tournaments: Is the tournament where you play good. I wish it will be here now (Miami, where this interview took place). But, of course, I like Roland Garros.

First Famous Player You Met Or Encountered: 2003 Australian Open I saw Roger Federer in the locker room and we took a picture in the locker room. So I have it, until now I have it on my wall.

Current Car: BMW. (Color?) Depends on which one they give me [smiles].

Favorite Sport Outside Tennis: I like ice hockey.

Three Athletes You Like To Watch & Follow: Usain Bolt. Jaromir Jagr. And Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Best You Ever Felt On Court: I wish it was like this more times but it was also against Rafa when I played second round Wimbledon 2012. I felt really good. I felt really comfortable. Everything I touched was going in pretty well. There was no feeling. I just played my game. I just concentrate on myself. And the moment came to me.

Funniest Players Encountered: Gael Monfils.

Why Do You Love Playing Tennis: I don’t think about it. It’s just my job and I love it and I just want to be better.

People Qualities Most Admired: I like the people, which they start to build from nothing. And try to build, build, build and they are big for me.

not sure about this guy…..he can play lights out but with an outsider / bad boyish delivery…..aside from his friction with nadal at wimby – murray said to his face “no one likes you on the tour !” during one of their matches..

also, anyone with a tatoo like that has issues..

@ scoop – i’m beginning to notice a pattern here….u seem to like bad boys (rios, kyrgios) and long-shots (saltelite players) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rosol is a legend because of that incredible display of power tennis he showed in KOing Nadal out of Wimbledon – I mean that was almost like Buster Douglas KOing Ironmike Tyson, no one will ever forget that performance by Rosol – and he gave a pretty nice Biofile, he was a nice guy – had heard from some people he can be a lil prickly but he was a pure class interview from my view –

mm, I think I like something about every player, can’t think of one I don’t like, certain players behave wrong sometimes but it’s just heat of the battle, I like all the players —
