First Tennis Memory: When I was young I was on court with my dad (Jean Emanuel Fils) teaching me how to play tennis. So that’s my first memory.
Tennis Inspirations: Federer. My idol was Federer, but as you get older, you enjoy watching Nadal play and you appreciate his mentality, his game.
First Famous Player You Met Or Encountered: I would say Nadal in Roland Garros. No autograph, just look.
Last Book Read: I don’t know. It was when I was in school. So I don’t remember [smiles].
Greatest Sports Moment: I think during (2021) Roland Garros when I won the doubles with my friend (Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard).
Most Painful Moment: I don’t know. I don’t know.
Funny Tennis Memory: When Kyrgios played against Nadal and he did some underhand serves. Yeah, I was laughing a bit.
Which Match Did You Feel At Your Best: I would say Orange Bowl, 2020 (vs American Michael Zheng, 2022 Wimbledon junior boys finalist). During the first round I saved match points (in second set) and then I won the match. My best feeling when you play the match like this it’s tough. I wasn’t playing really good. He was playing crazy. And to turn the match like this was a good memory, good feeling. (Fils won that Orange Bowl title.)
Why Do You Love Tennis: I like when there is a fight, you know? Fight spirit. And to play with a lot of fun, big courts, it’s cool. I like it.
Strangest Match: Yeah, second round in Roland Garros in the qualies. During professional. Beat Bernard Tomic first round. I was playing really good. And (then in second round) I did no match. I lost 61 63 (to Marc Polmans). It wasn’t a match. I don’t know what happened. So that was strange.
Favorite Sport Outside Tennis: Soccer.
Embarrassing Tennis Memory: Yeah, sometimes when you fall on the court it’s embarrassing.
Favorite Players To Watch: Federer when he was playing. Now Nadal.
Favorite Artists: I would say French rapper.
Favorite Movies: Creed. An American one with a black boxer Michael Jordan.
People Qualities Most Admired: I would say fight spirit.
