Tennis-Prose Official Awards 2023

Sportsmanship Award: Richard Gasquet. Two full decades on the ATP World Tour and I have never heard or seen the Frenchman show unsportsmanlike conduct even once. No confrontations with any opponents, or ugly moments on court. Honorable mention: John Isner. Grigor Dimitrov. John Millman. Feliciano Lopez. Karen Khachanov. Kei Nishikori. Jannik Sinner. Adrian Mannarino.

Player Of The Year: There’s only one candidate for this honor – Novak Djokovic. Three Grand Slam titles and a Wimbledon final loss in five sets, 401 weeks at no. 1. 2023 may have been the best season of Novak’s historic career.

Comeback Player Of The Year: Tie… Max Purcell started the year ranked 220 and now the 25 year old Australian is ranked 45. Big serving Nicolas Jarry is ranked at his career best no. 19. In January he was ranked 157. The Chilean won two titles this year.

Most Improved Player: Alex Michelsen. The 19 year old American vaulted into the top 100 this year (97), an improvement of over 500 ranking slots. In January the California Kid as ranked 600. Sidenote: Alex just switched from Lotto to Adidas.

Biggest Disappointment: Jack Sock. The talented but lazy American hasn’t played a singles match since April at Sarasota Open, a loss to Tristan Boyer. At 31, Sock should in his prime but it looks like he’s finished. The substandard worth ethic and lack of discipline shortened his career.

Media Excellence Award: Prakash Amritraj, Tennis Channel analyst/host. Brings positive energy without any political agendas and biases against certain players. He constantly exudes an aura of being a true lover of the sport and admirer of all the players without any political agendas or biases.

Sam, I did respond to this on X: “If the deep state is openly boasting that they are spying on Djokovic, does it mean they have intentions to terminate his career like Halep? Or are they just spying for no purpose?”

My suspicion is the tennis deep state is going to try to set up Djokovic with a false positive test and then try to ban him for that. That’s the only move they have left. Other than a real assassination attempt or a physical assault like what hired patsy Gunter Parche did to Seles.

Scoop, Sock has retired at US Open ;).

Sock will be back is my prediction Krzysztof

    That’s certainly possible, Scoop.

That’s the only move they have left. Other than a real assassination attempt or a physical assault like what hired patsy Gunter Parche did to Seles.

Well, they could also try the scenic route—somehow get some “slow” poison into him (like a Covid jab) that might not kill him, but could certainly mess with his health. 👿

  • Scoop Malinowski · December 5, 2023 at 6:52 am

They’ll need to find a traitor on his team to slow poison him and that’s a very longshot. Maybe they’ll just put all their hopes in Carlos and Sinner to get the job done, by rigging draws.

  • Sam · December 9, 2023 at 3:43 pm

So I assume that Djokovic never consumes any “refreshments” that he gets offered?

Well, rigged draws he can cope with—he’s been doing that a long time now anyway. 😉

  • Scoop Malinowski · December 9, 2023 at 4:10 pm

Sam, no chance Novak eats or drinks anything from outside sources which could be contaminated.

  • Sam · December 12, 2023 at 8:08 pm

You’re probably right, Scoop. So now all he needs to do is learn how to turn down interviews from unfriendly sources. 😏

  • Scoop Malinowski · December 13, 2023 at 8:05 am

Djokovic is a gentleman and no rat media scoundrel can villainize him no matter how hard they try, he always comes out winning.

  • Sam · December 15, 2023 at 7:25 pm

Yes, thankfully, it seems he always eventually gets the last laugh.

  • Scoop Malinowski · December 18, 2023 at 12:42 pm

Sam, It really is astonishing how every single player and the establishment, deep state and media have conspired to eliminate Djokovic but they continue to fail.

  • Sam · December 19, 2023 at 9:24 pm

Scoop, do you really think every single player is against him?

Anyway, hopefully he continues to triumph, and gets to leave the sport entirely on his own terms.

  • Scoop Malinowski · December 20, 2023 at 7:59 am

Sam, against him on the court of course, they want that career win. Off the court I think most players admire him massively, some maybe respect him too much.

  • Sam · December 24, 2023 at 7:16 pm

Scoop, what do you mean by “respect him too much”? 🤔

    Anyway, Merry Christmas! ✨

  • Scoop Malinowski · December 25, 2023 at 4:13 pm

Respect too much is the opposite of what young Lleyton Hewitt did, he came in and kicked the door down, fist pumped and yelled Cmon. A lot of players were offended by his ambitions but that’s what it takes. Can’t defer to the top guys, have to treat them like it’s time to clean house.
