Rune Accuses ATP After Monte Carlo Loss

Holger Rune was defeated by Jannik Sinner yesterday in Monte Carlo but many observers and Rune himself strongly feel and suspect political bias and favoritism may have been a factor in the outcome which featured some questionable calls by the chair umpire that helped the Italian and hurt the Dane.

After the QF match, won by Sinner 64 67 63, the ATP twitter account posted a video of Sinner hitting a forehand winner vs. Rune and “May the force be with you @janniksin”

Rune then posted a very interesting confrontational response challenging the ATP’s actions and integrity…

Meaning what @atptour …..? Not that you gave me the best conditions in the first place having to play 2 matches the day before ending late, leaving almost no recovery time. Chair Umpire making crucial mistakes and giving wrong warning that disturbed the game. May the force be with you. 🙁 Jesus Christ

The vast majority of tennis fans fully supported Rune in this dispute versus the ATP…

Puneet: Love that you are speaking up. You remained respectful the whole time. You explained that you didn’t use bad words but they don’t care. Maybe you’re not their golden boy, but you can be ours

Danny: They obviously want Sinner and Alcaraz to be the next Federer and Nadal hence the preferential treatment. Maybe you can be the next Novak Djokovic and send them all in ruins?

Pavvy G: You tell them my Holger! Huge respect my friend

Sekhar Talluri: You were very calm and tried to reason with an unreasonable chair empire. The crowd behavior was uncalled for and awful. The result was manipulated against you. No matter the outcome, you won several of our hearts for standing up to what is right and just. Good luck with the rest of the clay season.

Even a former ATP champion player from Australian expressed support for Rune…

Paul McNamee: Correct…@atptour has no place whatsoever playing favourites … it’s out of line
