My Tennis Dream

“I Love sleeping because dreams are way better than reality.” – unknown

I had a golden age hockey/tennis related dream this week. I was trying to go skate at an ice rink, where I saw a really good player skating with a coach. It turned out it was former NHL center Mel Bridgman. Mel was very nice and agreed to do a Biofile interview, like the Biofiles I do for my www.mrbiofile.com site and 80s Hockey Biofiles book. Before we started we chatted about a few fighting memories, he didn’t have kind words for Mike Milbury. As I fumbled around with my tape recorder batteries, suddenly the former Grand Slam champion tennis player Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and her mother entered the dream scene and she sat down right next to me, our knees were touching. Then the dream ended. I’ve always admired Bridgman and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario but they were not favorites.

For the record, I have never had the opportunity to do Biofile interviews with Bridgman or Sanchez-Vicario. Just wanted to share this ridiculous, meaningless dream, thanks for reading this nonsense!

Arantxa won 14 Grand Slam titles, four in singles, six in doubles and four in mixed doubles. She also won four Olympic medals and five Fed Cups. The Spanish woman won 29 singles titles overall and was no. 1 in singles (1995) and no. 1 in doubles (1992).

Trenton, Ontario native Bridgman played in the NHL from 1975 to 1989 for Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils, Detroit Red Wings, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks. He scored 252 goals in his career in 977 games.
