Lucky Lucia Loves Miami Open!

WTA no. 102 Lucia Bronzetti has enjoyed a miraculously fortunate 2022 Miami Open. She beat Renata Zarazua in qualies first round and then lost in straight sets to Qiang Wang 63 62. The Italian was granted a main draw slot as a lucky loser and in the first round she saved match point to beat Alja Tomljanovic 46 76 62.

In the second round, Bronzetti beat Stefanie Voegele 61 62 – the Swiss woman was one of only two players in the draw ranked lower then her.

The Italian’s luck didn’t run out there. Then she was handed a walkover win over Kalinskaya in the third round, to set up a fourth round duel vs Daria Saville. Even if Lucky Lucia loses to the Aussie, Bronzetti will earn $94,575. If she can beat Saville, Bronzetti will earn $179,940 for making quarterfinals.

Bronzetti’s career earnings before this week total $262,877.

Bronzetti is such an unknown, the WTA web site does not even list her date of birth, birthplace or height. Research shows she is 23 years old and was born on December 10, 1998 in Rimini, Italy.

Bronzetti made her Grand Slam main draw debut this year in Australia and beat Varvara Gracheva before losing to eventual champion and world no. 1 Ash Barty in the second round.

Hey king Richard instead of punching out comedians you might try not deserting your daughter. The one who’s not a tennis star.
