Hsieh Returns To Singles in Strasbourg
Su-Wei Hsieh made a triumphant return in singles in the first round of qualifying at the WTA Strasbourg tournament by beating world no. 105 Jesika Maleckova 64 64.
For the 37 year old Hsieh it was her first WTA singles match since October 2021 at the WTA 250 in Courmayeur Ladies Open where she lost 16 76 46 to Aliona Bolsova in the first round. Bolsova was ranked 175 at that time. Hsieh was ranked 95 then and now due to the 19 months of singles inactivity she has no WTA singles ranking.
Hsieh will play 25 year old American Sophie Chang tomorrow for a slot in the Strasbourg main draw. Chang is ranked 280 in the world in singles.
