Dimitrov Lectures Student Carlos At Miami Open

Grigor Dimitrov once again flashed the tennis world with another masterpiece performance by dominating world no. 2 Carlos Alcaraz 62 64 in the Miami Open quarterfinals.

“I think I played good tennis. I mean, I left the court thinking that probably I had to change my game a little bit earlier, but anyway, I feel like I played a good tennis. Not perfect but a good one,” Alcaraz said after. “But I feel, let’s say, I have a lot of frustrations right now, because he made me feel like I’m 13 years old (smiling). You know, it was crazy. I was talking to my team saying that I don’t know what I have to do. I don’t know, you know, his weakness. I don’t know anything.”

Clearly inspired by the occasion and opportunity, the 12th ranked 32 year old Dimitrov scorched the youngster with a stunning display of offensive, aggressive, bold shotmaking.

“Carlos, I always call him like a firecracker. He’s amazing. I love watching him play. Honestly, I love watching him playing, I love practicing against him, competing against him. I mean, I’m 12 years older than him. It’s honestly a lot of fun for me to challenge myself. It’s a great opportunity for me,” said the veteran, who has now beaten Carlos twice in a row. Their last duel was in Shanghai 2023, 57 62 64 for “Super G.” Carlos had won their first three matches all in straight sets.

The semis will be another stiff challenge for Dynamite Dimitrov. He is 1-7 career vs Alexander Zverev. Dimitrov’s only win came in their first meeting in 2014. Zverev is aspirig to reach his second Miami Open final, having previously done so in 2018; He has reached 10 ATP 1000 finals, winning five titles; Overall, the German owns 21 titles, having played 32 finals. Dimitrov has reached the semifinals at an ATP 1000 tournament for the third time in his last four events; In his 13th Miami Open, this is his best best result here. His lone ATP 1000 title came at Cincinnati in 2017, and reached his second final at this level last fall in Paris; A nine-time winner on Tour, he is attempting to reach his 20th career final. Dimitrov is now 2-0 vs Carlos since signing with Lacoste attire after previously wearing Nike.

It will be Sinner vs Medvedev in the other semi.

After class was over, I guess Carlos took the bus back to Madrid. 😆

Dimitrov played very well, it’s nice for the tennis world that Baby Federer is back now to fill the void left by the departure of Father Federer. Carlos will need to do his homework.
