Biofile Aleksandar Vukic Interview

By Scoop Malinowski

Status: ATP no. 69 (career best ranking was 48 in August 2023).

Ht: 6-2 Wt: 187

DOB: April 6, 1996 In: Sydney, Australia

First Tennis Memory: My brother playing, he played when he was twelve. He was like six and a half years older than me. So he was playing and I hit some balls. That’s how I started when I was like four or five.

Tennis Inspirations: Honestly, I don’t have too many. I’d probably say Lleyton Hewitt and Novak Djokovic.

Last Book Read: Some finance book.

First Famous Player You Met Or Encountered: Lleyton Hewitt in Sydney. I was just a hitting partner.

Current Car: I don’t have a car. I drive my parents’ car.

Greatest Career Moment: Probably winning first round of the Australian Open (2022) [smiles]. (Vukic beat world no. 33 Lloyd Harris 46 63 75 76.)

Most Painful Career Moment: Probably losing first round of the Aussie Open (2023) [smiles]. (After winning three qualifying round matches, Vukic lost 1R main draw to Brandon Holt in five sets 16 61 36 63 36.)

Favorite Tournaments: Queens. Aussie Open. And I want to say Wimbledon but I’ve never played main draw so hopefully this year (UPDATE: Vukic beat Daniel Altmaier in the first round Wimbledon 2023 in four sets).

Best You Ever Felt On Court: Tough to say. I’ll say it’s (beating Carlos) Alcaraz (French Open 2020 qualies 1R 46 76 63).

Funniest Player Encountered: Monfils I’d say.

Funny Career Memory: Not really no not really, it’s stressful [smiles].

Why Do You Love Tennis: The thrill of winning and the agony of losing [smiles].

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Caramel.

People Qualities Most Admired: Respect and kindness.
