Alternatives for the “Come On” shout

P1011069
Players of all levels of talent like to yell “Come on” or “Vamos” or “Allaiz” to celebrate a big point or to pump themselves up in a tough match.

But those are about the only three options players can choose from. Or is it? I did some research by asking various players for some other phrases they use on the court in the heat of battle for inspiration and motivation and discovered, there’s quite a plethora of alternatives that a player can use in his arsenal.

Here they are…

“Now is the winter of your discontent!”

“Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ”

“Sweet zombie Jesus”

“Great googly moogly”

“Holy batsh**, Robin”

“Hip, hip, hooray”

“Holy guacamole”

“Yowzah”

“Huzzah”

“That’s my break and butter!”

“You can’t touch this!”

“Mama Mia!”

“Let’s get it on!”

“Don’t do me like that!”

“Time to rock n’ roll!”

“That’s the way!”

“Fire it up!”

“YUP!”

“That’s what I’m talkin’ bout”

“How do ya like me now??!!”

“I can do this all day”

“You can’t HANDLE the truth”

“That should have been on TV”

“Yeah, that’s right, I’m bad”

“You Can’t Spin My Spin!!!!!!!!!!!”

“Booyah!”

“Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!”

“Whoot there it is”

“Who Let the dogs out?”

“In your face!”

“Yo Mama!”

“Let’s roll!”

Giddy Up
Oorah (Marine Corps)
Hooah (Army)
Hooyah (Navy)
“Make some noise”

Wiggle it, just a little bit

My personal favorite is “That’s what I’m talking about.” But how about “Bazinga!”

Dan you maybe should teach Cal the art of yelling Bazinga or That’s what I’m talkin about ) I must admit You can’t handle the truth is a darn good one and might work well in the park for doubles.

Our pal Dan Weil had some good ones for the opposite – expressions of frustrations – Fiddle Faddle. Fluffernutter. Whoopsy daisy. He had some other classics too.

    POJD!! Kvitova’s cry qualifies.

Haha, Doug, yeah it does. Don’t know what to call that shriek of Kvitova, it sure is extremely emotional. And kind of startling.
