Looking forward to it. Bit thin draw. What happened to Baghdatis? I thought he was playing event. Poor Harry, drawing Hewitt. Weather up here was beautiful yesterday.

It’s a shame what’s happened to this tournament, Scoop. Besides Izzie, Hewitt and Dr. ivo , the draw looks like a Challenger. Yes, Mahut is back and Mannarino who hits flat is here and could be dangerous, but you had Baggy, Kyrigos and Q-ball all pull out. I remember oncci Vince getting to the finals here and losing to Rusedski by beating Goldstein so I guess it’s never been a big time event, but at least guys like Santoro, Murray when he was really young and Fish ayknd Blake used to play here. If you compare this field to the Delray Beach field, it pales in comparison.

Fun side note, Paul Goldstein is now the coach of Stanford University’s Men’s tennis team …

Nice post, Thomas. Man, that’s not bad to be named head coach of Stanford when you’ve had no coaching experience. Goldie’s got to get the Cardinal back to its top perch in men’s college tennis.

Big upset today in Newport with Samuel Groth taking down DY in straight sets. Dy afterward said its hard to beat a guy serving 130/140 on his first serve and 118 on his second.but after he lost the first set in a breaker, DY didn’t compete as hard in the second and while he considered hitting a ball out of the stadium when he lost, instead he just nodded twice and flipped it away.

Jack Sock, Wimbledon doubles champ, arrived today and Scoop is happy he no longer wears a hat while playing .

Dy man. Yeah it is getting tough to b a fan of u.s. tennis when thr towel is being thrown in so frequently.

hey u.s. juniors did amazing at wimbledon. It is one thing to have both jr wimbledon boys finalists from u.s. quite another for seven of sixteen rd of sixteen players to be from u.s. watch out world.

True Dan, Sock is minus the backward cap now and I can take some if not all credit for sparking this style change, as I kindly asked his brother Eric in Delray to tell Jack to get rid of the hat it makes him look like a junior and it takes away from his presence which is quite formidable. And it also hides his great head of hair something both you and I are both lacking )
