This is and always will be one of my favorite events. Been back every year for five years now. I know a photographer from Chicago who has gone 19 straight years, he just fell in love with the place. Really strong field this year too, maybe the best field in Newport history.

True, Scoop, great place to watch matches up close and get a feel for how tournaments were held in olden days in small clubs. I think Hewitt and Nishikori in field make it very interesting.

Some satellite gems about Newport: the players lounge–where they hang out and eat lunch–is a porch in view of everyone.

    2. The Hall of FAme Museum.

    3. A single grass court in the foreground of the club where often people dressed in old time tennis outfits and wielding old wooden clubs play a staged match.

    4. Hard courts a couple of blocks from club open to public.

    5. The local New England papers from Newport, Providence and Boston all send reporters.

    6. The ocean is less than one mile away.

I’ll be at the event Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. If you see me or Scoop, say hello.

Scoop, what happened to Raonic? I thought he was playing Newport.

Raonic is scheduled to play Dan.
