Random Tennis Player Biofile: Christian Koskorelos

Lives: Fort Lee, NJ

Spotted playing at: The wall at Overpeck Park in Leonia, NJ.

Years playing: “22 years straight. High school and college tennis (Lynn University, Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson).”

First memory of tennis: “Hitting against the wall, 10 years old. (Same wall he’s hitting against today but on the other side.)”

Favorite players to watch: “I like Roddick, Blake, Agassi. Serena Williams. Graf.”

Greatest tennis moment: “I guess when I was in Florida, playing tennis in Florida (at Lynn for one season). And when I met Dimitri Tursunov in California. He has a good personality, very nice, he was fun, talked about tennis.”

Worst tennis moment: “Leaving California job in 2005. Or when I lost the Bergen County Clay Courts tournament to Paul Lee, I had double match point to Paul Lee. I choked and lost in three sets in the quarterfinals.”

Funny tennis memory: “When I was in California we all bonded well, we had some nice laughs at the Gorin Academy in Sacramento. And playing Doug Goulding in a tournament and a dog ran on the court. The guy who took care of the courts lives there and his Rottweiler ran out on the court and was chasing us around during the point.”

Favorite courts to play: “I like clay courts. The new Overpeck Park courts.”

Why do you love tennis: “It’s good, you meet people, it’s a good experience. I used to teach tennis, you help others. It’s a nice game.”

Racquet: “Prince Hybrid. It has good control. I like control.”

Shoes: “New Balance. Comfortable. I also have Prince.”

Christian Koskorelos is my tennis instructor who has become a good friend. My name is Gary and I met Chris at a private tennis club as an instructor by Edgewater new jersey .” and since then he has coached me and many other kids”on all variables of the tennis game.
As a former high school and university tennis star his experience in tennis is unique from all others. He has been published in the school newspaper for Leonia HS and Farleigh Dickinson as there up and coming tennis star….
His outstanding passion for the game has inspired me to play in tennis tournaments. He has taught me many key lessons on how to achieve tennis success.
    Thanks Chris,
    Gary
