First Tennis Memory:  “It was really fun. It’s very near my home. My dad’s friends were all there and they just want me to have fun and enjoy the tennis. Yeah, it was pretty fun. The first time was pretty nice for me. Because I was just six years old. And I think the tennis was very nice for me because it’s not just you have to study all the day. You have to think for everything. You have to think about your opponent. You have to think about what she gonna do. And you have to be very smart. It’s not just hitting the ball. So that’s why I love it.”
Tennis Inspirations:   “Because my parents have played tennis and they just take me to the tennis court everyday. And I just love it. Today – Martina Hingis because she is very smart. Her body is like Asian but she’s very smart.”
Favorite Movies:  “I don’t know, no particular favorite.”
Favorite TV Show: “No. We don’t have time to watch TV. Being in all these different countries, so I cannot say which one.”
Favorite Music:  “Chinese light rock music, not very slow.”
Greatest Sports Moment:  “2007 Australian Open doubles finalist. Because that was my first time playing doubles in a grand slam. And we get a wildcard. And we were happy to get a wildcard. Because the (tournament) director – they trust us. We think: Just don’t lose in the first round. But we don’t know how we can get into the final. Just keep playing and then don’t think too much. Just try our best. And that is very special memory (with Chia-Jung Chuang lost to Black/Huber 46 76 61).”
Most Painful Moment:  “Well, no, because my parents always support me. They let me feel like they trust me. And they are trusting the thing I am doing. So they make me feel like, Just keep improving. Just don’t think too much. That for me is fine. I don’t have any like painful parts.”
Favorite Meal: “Chinese. I can cook myself [smiles]. So I love the meal I cook.”
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:  “Cookies and cream.”
Pre-Match Feeling:  “Just thinking what I have to do. Just prepare first and try to understand what my opponent is gonna do later.”
Favorite Tournament:  “Australian Open, yes.”
Funniest Player Encountered:  “Chuang makes me laugh.”
Fiercest Competitors Encountered:  “Williams sisters. I played Serena  in 2005 in singles at US Open. Powerful. She hit the ball very hard. And if you want to hit the ball very hard back, you miss the ball. And her serve is very big also.”
Funny Tennis Memory:  “We were playing the match in Thailand in 2007.The opponent, I forgot which country she was from, the first time I hit her on volley but not very hard. And I just say Sorry and she say, Oh, it’s okay. Then she (Chuang) hits her again [laughs]. And then she gets angry when she say sorry she gets angry. Then third time her partner hits her. Because power serve and her partner just returned too late. She (Chuang) tells me, Don’t tell me she’s gonna hit herself [laughs]. After two points she just comes to poach and she hit like not in the strings but on frame and the ball hit her face. We were laughing but we cannot laugh too loud. (Who was it?) I can’t remember. (Who won?) We won the match because she’s very angry [laughs].”
Early Tennis Memory:  “In 1999 in Taiwan they had a big earthquake. And then before at home my dad had supermarkets around the city. And then the earthquake finished them off. And then we lost all the money. And we lived in the house and the house was like broken. Then we tried to get out of the house and my dad asked me: We still have a little bit of money. Do you still want to play tennis or no? If you want to play we let you use the money. You can try your best in it. I say, Yeah, I want to try the tennis. And then he said, Okay let’s go to Taipei and that time we were poor. And we eat like two meals for four people. And then we tried to practice and we live in a room very small. Just for like a king bed. We buy another small bed for me and my sister. It’s a really hard time for me because we didn’t have any friends in Taipei. We have to do everything by ourselves. I’m very glad that we’re doing much better than before.”
Childhood Dreams:  “I want to play the Grand Slams. And then hold the trophy. Yep.”
People Qualities Most Admired:  “Any people. Very nice and no angry. And always smiling.”
