Penguin Marches Into Tennis With Tomljanovic

Heritage athleisure brand, Original Penguin is moving into Tennis apparel and has tapped Australian tennis player, Ajla Tomljanovic as their first brand ambassador.

The design inspiration represents a fusion of retro heritage style with a modern “original” twist while marrying the intersection of classic silhouettes and crisp tennis whites along with colorful original prints. Fabrics include luxe sustainable recycled yarns with elastane blends such as Repreve and 4 way stretch and extremely lightweight blends. Other technical features include moisture-wicking UPF sun protection. Detail elements feature power mesh for enhanced ventilation, piping, novelty logo details, pockets, fit and foundation attributes including built-in shelf bras with removable inserts, as well as tummy control in skorts, skirts and dresses… all perfect body enhancing coverage for the professional and amateur tennis player alike.

Ajla is currently ranked no. 40 in the latest WTA world rankings, and will be showcasing Original Penguin’s Tennis Spring 2022 women’s collection, available this April.

The 28-year-old has played in four WTA finals: Finalist: 2019 – Hua Hin; 2018 – Rabat, Seoul; 2015 – Pattaya City. She has career wins vs Aryna Sabalenka, Emma Raducanu, Daniela Hantuchova, Garbine Muguruza, Agnieszka Radwanska, Elena Vesnina and Jelena Jankovic. Her best result in a Grand Slam was quarterfinals at 2021 Wimbledon (lost to Simona Halep).
