Iga Reigns Supreme At Miami Open

Iga Swiatek emphatically proved she is the new WTA world no. 1 player with a dominant tournament and final victory today vs. Naomi Osaka 64 60. Iga, who is the fourth WTA player to win the “Sunshine Double” of Indian Wells and Miami back to back (Graf twice, Clijsters, Azarenka), will become the top ranked WTA player on Monday.

20 year old Swiatek has now won three straight WTA 1000 titles (Doha, Indian Wells, Miami) and she has won seventeen straight matches, the best win streak of her career.

John Isner and Hubi Hurkacz won the doubles title 76 64 vs. Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski. Isner and Hurkacz, a wildcard team entry into the tournament, join Richard Krajicek and Roger Federer as the third and fourth men to have won both Miami Open in singles and doubles.

Isner of course completed the Sunshine Double in doubles as he won Indian Wells two weeks ago with Jack Sock.
