Tennis Inspirations: “I’ve always liked Martina Hingis who’s always been my favorite growing up. I’ve always looked up to her. I also like Monica Seles and Rafael Nadal.”

Hobbies/Leisure Activities: “I actually like swimming. Swimming I like to do, it’s very nice. I like movies, hanging out with friends, kind of having a teenage life, normal, when I can [smiles].”

Favorite Movies: “I really liked When A Stranger Calls and I also liked Hancock.”

Favorite TV Shows: “Definitely love Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Will Smith is really great.”

Last Book Read: “Angels & Demons by Dan Brown.”

Musical Tastes: “I’m into Hip-hop, rap, that kind of stuff, I like Chris Brown, Neyo is pretty good, also Justin Timberlake.”

First Tennis Memory: “Oh. Actually my first tournament that I ever played – and actually lost. I was first round player, I got to the semifinals and lost. And when I lost, I ran away [smiles]. I went…it was kind of indoor, like, a coffee shop in there with player’s lounge, I sit in the sofa there with my parents and a couple of other players are looking for me for like a couple of hours. I was crying and I ran away [smiles]. (In Portugal?) Yes, that was in Portugal, I lived there until I was nine. That was when I was seven. I actually ran away and they had to look for me.”

Favorite Meal: “I like pasta. Probably bolognese is my favorite.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “Chocolate.”

Pre-Match Feeling: “Actually, before matches, I don’t like to think about anything. Just, my mind’s completely clear. I don’t want to think about anything. Maybe just listen to my iPod. But other than that I’m not thinking about my matches, I’m not thinking about anything. Just relaxing and trying to go inside my matches loose.”

Greatest Sports Moment: “So far, definitely was playing Serena Williams (2008 in Bank of the West Classic), that was a great match and I think I played really well. And it was the greatest player I ever played.”

Most Painful Moment: “Ooohh. Probably losing it [laughs]. Probably losing that match (46 63 26). No. Actually, I don’t know. You know, I don’t get too upset. I do get upset but try not to think about it too much.”

Funny Tennis Memory: “Actually I can’t think of any. My mind is kinda blank right now.”

Embarrassing Tennis Memory: “Oh wow. I don’t think so, no. I can’t think of any.”

Favorite Players To Watch: “Well, I definitely like, actually I do like Jankovic. I like to see her play because sometimes she might lose the matches but when she is losing she does smile on the court. She does like to have a good time and that’s actually quite fun to watch her play. She’s very entertaining and I like her. (ATP?) Men’s side, oh I definitely like Rafa. He has that big fighting spirit and big Vamos all the time. Yeah, I definitely like watching him play.”

Closest Tennis Friends: “Well, actually in tennis I don’t really have close friends – and I actually like to keep it that way [smiles]. You know? Because, you know, you’re on the Tour, you might play her. And playing your friend on the Tour is not really the nicest thing. So and also I’m new on the WTA Tour I haven’t had the chance to really meet any of the girls, I haven’t known them for that long. At the same time, I’d rather not have friends on the Tour, I’d rather have friends at like home but I really don’t want to have WTA Tour player friends.”

Funniest Players Encountered: “I think Roddick’s really funny. Actually, he’s really hilarious. I’ve seen his press conferences, he’s always making jokes and I think he’s the funniest player.”

Toughest Competitors: “Well, that one definitely goes to Maria, she has a huge fighting spirit and of course Rafa never gives up.”

Favorite Tournament: “Of course the grand slams. The nicest tournament I’ve played so far – Miami is really nice. Montreal was a really nice tournament.”

People Qualities Most Admired: “Definitely like to see humor, people that can make you laugh at anything, as long as it’s good. And definitely fighting spirit is good, never give up, no matter what the score is.”
