Bernard Tomic Update

Yes Bernard Tomic is still at it. The 31 year old Australian has a 14-9 match record mostly on the ATP Challenger circuit.

The former ATP no. 17 is ranked 284 right now, just a slight rise above the 289 he started 2024 ranked. Progress has been gradual but Tomic must be unwavering in his self belief that he can still operate with his finesse style game on the ATP World Tour.

Tomic is determined to return to the ATP elite status where he once presided. This year he’s played ten tournaments all over the globe – in Thailand (3), India (5), Mexico (1), and US (1), managing to win a title in Chennai, a $25k ITF where he beat Mukund Sasikumar, ranked 554, in the final 64 76.

In his last tournament last week in San Luis Potosi in Mexico, Tomic beat Marc Andrea Huesler, ranked 209, and Valentin Vacherot, ranked 146. Those are the only two players ranked inside the top 200, he’s beaten this year. He then lost in QF to Denis Kudla, ranked 146.

Still, Tomic continues to grind it out the hard way, without the luxury of wildcards, in search of one or two of those elusive ‘Last hurrahs.”
