Cruz Hewitt, the 15 year old son of former ATP no. 1 Lleyton Hewitt, was knocked out of the boys draw in the first round by the American Alexander Razeghi 62 63. Hewitt was given a wildcard into the main draw. Razeghi is the 6 seed.

Su Wei Hsieh is still a force in doubles and mixed doubles. The 37 year old and Elise Mertens won their third round match vs Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini 36 63 75. Hsieh is also still in contention in the mixed doubles with Jan Zielinski after beating John Peers and Katie Birrell.

Bethanie Mattek Sands is still competing. The 37 year old American got into the mixed doubles draw as an alternate with Marcelo Arevalo but lost first round to Shibahara and Vliegen. She also lost in the first round in doubles with Wang to Garcia and Mladenovic.

The no. 1 seed in the boys draw, Federico Cina of Italy lost first round yesterday 60 36 36 to Amir Omarkhanov of Kazakhstan. The highly regarded Cina is just 16 years old.

American Jagger Leach, son of Lindsay Davenport, won his first round by match vs Daniil Sarksian 76 64.

The wildcard husband/wife team of Luke and Daria Saville lost first round of the mixed to Vavassori and Samsnova 36 36.

Marta Kostyuk, who is in the QF of singles (plays Coco Gauff next) withdrew from doubles with Katarina Kawa in the second round.

Adrian Mannarino also withdrew from doubles with Quentin Halys in the second round to save his energy for the showdown vs Novak Djokovic in singles.
