Jovana Jaksic makes waves in Monterrey

jjaks

Did anyone see this new young beautiful Serbian Jovana Jaksic’s match with Kimiko Date Krumm in the semi of the WTA Abierto Monterrey event?

For almost the entire match Jaksic was utilizing double-grunt noises, first a light normal grunt then after contact she added a higher pitched semi shriek which almost sounded like a combined hiccup/achoo sneeze.

Poor Date, 43, had to deal with these bewildering sound effects the entire match. But then in the third set Jaksic even added a third grunt sound after the cute hiccup. A weary looking Date finally succumbed 46 in the third after the rain of sounds by Jaksic which were also periodically accompanied with fist pumps, air punches, semi Petko Dances.

After it was over Jaksic, the ham of all hams, then broke into a 30-second full Petkodance all over the court complete with finger waves.

Jovana Jaksic, obviously an extrovert with a terrific personality, takes the cake as the greatest showboat of pro tennis. Muhammad Ali, if he were tuned into the Tennis Channel this weekend, surely would have been smiling watching the young Jaksic.

She’s just 20 and ranked around a hundred now. Though Jovana lost in the final to Ana Ivanovic, with her fighting spirit, and solid baseline game, she certainly looks like a very good prospect and one to keep your eyes and ears on.

Anyone else notice that Donald Young demolished Ryan Harrison in Houston yesterday? Wonder what the story there was.

Mitch, Yes that was a tough score for Harrison who had to go through qualies and won his last quali match on Monday in a tough 3 setter, he was probably spent and wasn’t ready to play the early match Tuesday with Young. That’s my guess. Just an unfair draw for Harry. I’m trying to verify this though…or if maybe DY just played a perfect match.

silly kiddy behavior from the ex-yugo – hopefully she’ll grow out of it by the end of the year….petka’s dance routine was amusing for a day with malivai too LOL..

put a fork in harry….he’s done and dusted ! i’d be optimistic and/or deranged if i said – his tennis life will turn for the better with some changes…fat chance..

Jaksic saved ELEVEN MPs vs. Tamira Paszek in a tourney earlier this year. Now that’s a fighter.
