Former America standout junior Zane Khan had not played a pro match since 2021 US Open qualies third round, which he lost to Evgeny Donskoy 46 75 67 after beating Stakhovsky and Dzumhur.
Khan, a former Eddie Herr champ and 2018 Orange Bowl finalist (lost 57 46 to Otto Virtanen), returned to action this summer at the Battle Of Boca money tournaments in Boca Raton. He lost in the QF of the first to a guy named Dakota Bobo (ATP 1966) 57 36 but has won two straight Battle of Boca titles and a few thousands bucks. The 23 year old Khan has a 15-1 record this year. His highest ATP ranking was 404.
Foot injury problems troubled Khan for years. He said he had difficulty finding shoes that fit comfortably. Once I saw him playing Eddie Herr on clay and he was using worn out Nike clay shoes because they were the only ones that didn’t hurt his feet.
