Wimbledon Super Tuesday

Novak Djokovic fought back from two sets down for the seventh time in his career, conquering Jannik Sinner 57 26 63 62 62 to advance to a semifinal showdown with Brit lefty Cam Norrie, also a five set victor over David Goffin 36 57 26 63 75.

“We are fortunate to have a player like this,” said John McEnroe.

Djokovic will play his 11th semi and seeks to win his seventh Wimbledon and 21st Grand Slam.

Ons Jabeur figured out Maria Bouzkova 36 61 61 and will meet Tatjana Maria in the Ladies semifinal, as Maria bested Jule Niemeier 46 62 75. Jabeur is the first Arab woman to play in a Grand Slam semifinal.

Sam Stosur and Matt Ebden beat Omara/Barnett to reach the mixed doubles semi. Ebden is seeking his first Grand Slam title after reaching finals in doubles at AO.

Jelena Ostapenko and Natalia Kichenok won in three sets vs Chan Aoyama to reach the Ladies Doubles semi.

No. 2 seed Mektic and Pavic won in three sets vs 64 63 63 vs Krawietz and Mies to reach the semis in Gentleman’s Doubles.

Sock and Kudla were forced to retire at 1-1 in the fourth down two sets to one to Cabal and Farah who advance to the semis. Sock is still alive in the mixed doubles with Coco Gauff.

In juniors, American Michael Zheng from Montville, NJ won his second round boys singles match 75 60. Zheng will play at Ivy League Columbia University in the fall, if he does not turn pro.

i wouldn’t be shocked to see Norrie take this to 5 against Joker. He’s always achieving to unachievable…. great mental game and will have endless crowd support. Crowd will be begging for the upset. Still a longshot but possible. Joker looked mediocre in individual sets all tourney.

I like Kyrgios and Nadal to advance tomorrow. I can see Kyrgios or Nadal winning – i just don’t see Joker winning this. Nadal will be playing with house money (via the all-time GS wins) and Kyrgios might be able to rattle Joker with his brand of playing style and antics arguing with refs and delaying games. IDK. Something about Kyrgios that this may be his day.

Altho i always said that Kyrgios would never win a GS as he doesn’t have the mental game (see him collapse and melt down all the time). The ultimate mental game is beating a Nadal, Djokovic, or both. Nobody stronger currently in the game than those 2.

Cory I see Novak winning decisively vs Norrie who is super underrated and underappreciated and the biggest overachiever in the ATP IMO. Nick over Rafa too if he gets by Garin and if Rafa gets by Fritz. I find it very unsettling that Nick is suddenly now being charged by the ex bimbo gf two matches before a showdown with Rafa. Is this the tennis deep state at work again? I would not be surprised at all if there is a tennis deep state operated by Rafa and Federer or their handlers. Just too many coincidences.

Cory, Nick looks lethal right now, physically his game is scary good, McEnroe even said this, and mentally he’s all in like a young Hewitt or Rafa, he really wants this and he wants it now. I think he’s ready to shock the world and show the world he’s more than just an NBA wannabe and ATP clown. Nick knows he can beat anyone in the world and this is his chance, big chance, to make history. Remember, he won the AO doubles title in January. He wants more and believes obviously he can do it. A Novak vs Nick final would be bedlam and one of the best Wimble finals of history.
