Who Slowed Wimbledon Grass And For What Intent?

By Scoop Malinowski

Two ATP champions have revealed that the grass courts of 2022 Wimbledon have been altered to play slow.

Nick Kyrgios and Reilly Opelka both won their first round matches, but both said in their Wimbledon press conferences that the Wimbledon grass courts are playing noticeably slower this year.

Kyrgios said: “Why is it slow? This is grass. There shouldn’t be rallies on grass. My God, stop slowing it down.”

Opelka said: “The grass is no longer for the servers. They have slowed it down too much.”

Exactly why this court speed alteration has been made is impossible to say with certainty, until hopefully the tournament director Jamie Baker will perhaps address the controversial decision on the record with the media.

But the natural, first inclination is to suspect the tennis deep state is behind this change, with, of course, the intention to assist Rafael Nadal to win his 23rd Grand Slam title.

If tennis is supposed to be a level playing field and fair for all competitors, the decision to alter court surface speed to help a certain player or players, is a contradiction which blemishes the integrity and honesty of the sport.

The grass was turned into a hard court in 2008 for Nadal to keep Fed from winning ten in a row. Are you just noticing the rallies for the last 12 years? Thereā€™s no worn out gross leading to the net, anymore
    Get your conspiracies right.
On another note. Lopez went out in 3 straight. Starting a new streak? Lmao

Harold I reported here a decade ago, Kozlov told me the courts at Wimbledon play like hard courts. He said this at Newport a week after he lost to Noah Rubin in the junior boys Wimbledon final. Now Nick and Opelka are saying it’s even slower this year. Sandgren said last week he would like to see different court speeds again so different players and styles can succeed.

Lopez is finished, he can’t win anymore. Not sure he could win a barnstorming tour series with Querrey.

So why go with the Nadal conspiracy if you know the grass was slowed down ten years ago?
Not everything is a conspiracy, not everyone has a hidden agenda

Scoop, what’s your hunch as to the real reason for slowing down the courts?

And what do you think about these latest “Covid withdrawals”? šŸ˜¼

The players are saying they slowed it down even more for this year. Read the quotes by Nick/Reilly in my article.

Sam, To help Nadal win the title. I don’t buy these covid withdrawals, I think Nadal’s biggest threats are being sent home. Cornet said: “everybody had covid in the french and nobody cared… who is going to selftest resulting riding yourself into the shit?ā€ Tennis like the world right now is upside down disaster. Breaking point near.

Yes, Scoop, that explanation seems the most likely.

Cornet said: ā€œeverybody had covid in the french and nobody caredā€¦ who is going to selftest resulting riding yourself into the shit?ā€

    Very interesting.

Tennis like the world right now is upside down disaster. Breaking point near.

Could be. I also have a hunch that all this “help” Nadal’s getting may actually backfire. šŸŖƒ

How could it backfire? A former ATP pro texted me after Nadal beat Cerundolo this interesting message which he felt the Argentine tanked: “It looked like Cerundolo was playing holding back all the time. Slow motion…3-1, 40-15, two ad points, then loses 4-6… he gave it to him.”

Remember when Shapovalov accused the ATP umpire of being “so corrupt” when he was beating Rafa in Rome? Imagine if that truth bomb was only an understatement. The corruption in tennis is a reflection of the corruption and deception we are seeing in world politics. It’s odd that Cilic and Berrettini did not wait a day to load up on vit c and green tea and feel better from their head cold. It seems more realistic they were sent home. Let’s see if more threats in the Rafa draw half end up being sent home.

    How could it backfire?

I don’t know exactly, Scoop, but evil deeds sometimes have a way of doing that. For instance, cheaters often overplay their hands (as we saw clearly in the so-called 2020 election). Perhaps even if Nadal did make the final, he’d be sorely undercooked. And ultimately, cheating and corruption will get found outā€”eventually at least. It’s not a smart way to live. šŸ¤”

Proverbs 5:22 puts it this way: “The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them; the cords of their sins hold them fast.”

ā€œIt looked like Cerundolo was playing holding back all the time. Slow motionā€¦3-1, 40-15, two ad points, then loses 4-6ā€¦ he gave it to him.ā€

Wow. šŸ˜® I didn’t see the match, but many of the comments I read about it were similar.

Remember when Shapovalov accused the ATP umpire of being ā€œso corruptā€ when he was beating Rafa in Rome?

    I think so.

Itā€™s odd that Cilic and Berrettini did not wait a day to load up on vit c and green tea and feel better from their head cold. It seems more realistic they were sent home.

Uh huh. The odds of all that happening “naturally” are extremely low.

Letā€™s see if more threats in the Rafa draw half end up being sent home.

We hear all the time about Nadal’s draws in Grand Slams “collapsing,” and now it seems that one would have to be pretty naive to chalk all that up to mere coincidence. šŸ‘

This site is going off the rails.

Wimbledon courts have been slowing since the 80s. No secret there. And ‘deep state’ wasn’t a term in use.

Lots of changes happening at once – racquet technology, playing styles, crowd preferences.

Lightning fast surfaces were no longer desirable. TV wanted longer rallies. TV got them.

Sam, it does not matter what Nadal does, he’s protected. Just like Maxwell and Epstein are protected, as are all their elite clients who raped kids. Not one arrest has been made of any elite clients that Epstein and Maxwell trafficked kids to. They have all the evidence but no arrests. I think Nadal is equally protected. No matter what he injects or whatever, the establishment wants him to get the record. Meanwhile, if Djokovic misbehaves or refuses to take a drug shot injection that does not work against the renamed flu, the establishment gangs up and villainizes him 247. But when Serena misbehaved on court, the same establishment came to her defense and made excuses for her.

The same way slow court helps Nadal, it also helps Djokovic. At least, Rafa has got a decent volley, while Novak’s volleys are really mediocre, of course he improved a little bit thanks to Goran, but when he attacks the net not on his terms, his net skills are questionable. When you take a look at his legs unfolded like goat, there is some smile on my face, these volleys look really awkward. I would say that Novak’s volley skills are not superior even to Agassi or Muster. As for Djokovic draws, just analyse Wimbledon 2021 ranking spots of Novak’s opponents – the first top player he played was in the final…

  • Scoop Malinowski · June 29, 2022 at 7:28 pm

Krzysztof, Novak sure looked masterful today, I like his volleys, they are effective even if they look unnatural compared to the elegant volleyers like Sampras and McEnroe. Nadal is the best volleyer in the game today IMO. He rarely misses and puts them away. The only bad volley miss by Rafa I can remember was in the fourth set tiebreaker of the RG semi vs Novak last year. That’s the only very bad volley I can remember by Rafa.

Kyrgios: “I just wanted to, I don’t know, just prove to people that, like, I’m really good. I feel like I just don’t have the respect sometimes, you know?”

Opelka: “if there were points this guy (Rijthoven) would qualify for Turin, 100 percent. Torino.”
