Was WTA star the secret paramour of Djokovic?

bouchLast week some friends came down to visit Sarasota, Florida and we got together for dinner three nights in a row. Some fine cuisine and bottles of wine combined with tennis talk revealed a very interesting scoop which I will now share.

One of the most popular discussions regarding tennis is about what happened to ATP world No. 1 Novak Djokovic for the second half of 2016? The conversations touched on all the talking points like letdown after finally winning Roland Garros, complacence from Roger and Rafa being mostly absent from the Tour, and the distractions from the alleged extra-marital affair with the nanny and or Indian actress.

But then my friend unleashed a zinger. He said one of the pro level members of his club was called to train with Djokovic in Monte Carlo during the summer – and after Djokovic’s stunning Wimbledon loss to Sam Querrey. This player learned from the Djokovic camp that their boss had had a short affair or romance in London with a certain famously attractive North American female player, one who most of you have probably heard of. Yes, that one, without naming names. This player then revealed the information to certain members of his prestigious country club.

At first I did not believe it but then the source explained all the details, which I just shared, and I find the story to be believable and plausible. Especially because this very good friend is a first class, very successful professional person with absolutely zero reason or motive to fabricate such a tale. Nor is he the type of person to fall for a scam. Also the tone of his voice certainty after I expressed skepticism was also further convincing.

Remember, it was at Wimbledon when Djokovic revealed that he was dealing with certain personal problems, without going into detail. Many tennis insiders have speculated about an extra-marital affair (or affairs) by Djokovic, and the images of his wife Jelena looking totally disengaged (seated in the back row of the box) and completely emotionless during the US Open added to the suspicions because Mrs. Djokovic has previously always been a passionate and emotional front row supporter of her husband during important Grand Slam matches in the past.

I attempted to contact two tennis insiders who have ties to Djokovic and neither replied to the inquiry.

So I will leave it at that and let you the reader determine if it’s a possible scoop or a bunch of baloney. I’m leaning to the former.

You are way off Scoop. The true story was revealed months ago and did not involve a player, let alone an American.

I think it’s time we dropped this gossip.

Also I’m always amazed the number of people who hear something from someone who knows someone and heard from someone else etc etc…no names no details – that’s how urban myths grow.

Umm. Well without any photos or evidence whatsoever best bet is cross reference player twitter instagram and press conferences from that period. Language used tends to reveal something though usually nothing overt. Or if they practiced together. Personally find this totally far fetched but I’m sure the tabloids would love it.

    Andrew –

The tabloids have no doubt been offered this and similar stories many times and generally haven’t touched them with bargepoles for obvious reasons (libel lawyers rubbing hands).

This particular piece of dubious gossip is not true and as I’ve suggested above should be dropped before this site ends up getting sued, which would be a pity.

It’s a tennis site, not the National Inquirer.

Catherine: its tennis related so we discuss it here. Anything tennis. I scoffed at this too but my friend gave a knowing laugh as if he KNOWS. im just sharing it. Not saying it happened. But anything is possible. And so is this. Its very easy to conceal someting like a short player romance from the public and media which is not nearly as daring and aggressive as it used to be. No boatrockers in the mainstream media today.

I vote to drop subject. Especially as bigger real and savory fish to fry such as the guy who gambled and the foremost gladiator venue to see if players truly have chops aka the Australian open qualifiers!!!

I believe this story because Nole is known for not saying no to all kind of women.

I am just notsure who u speak about?

North American? Genie or Serena? Serena is not so sexy imo but this is just my opinion so I go for Genie 🙂

Btw I just read Jamie Hampton retired from sports at age of 26th. (I read former WTA tennis player).

Sounds bit early to me but she had six surgeries.

Jamie Hampton was so good like a right handed Rios for the wta! This is unfortunate.

Doogie you’re a very deductive individual 🙂 For sure Djokovic is a chick magnet and it has to be difficult to resist all the temptations –

I loved Jamie Hampton as a player and this is devastatingly sad news though not shocking because she was out for what was it about three straight years now with that bad hip? Excellent player who has a body that just couldn’t handle the intense rigors of pro tennis – Vvery very unfortunate – I did a Biofile with Jamie here it is https://www.tennis-prose.com/bios/7922/

AO qualifiers mixed results for us guys thus far. Kozlov goes down meekly. Krueger doing good. Klahn bites dust in a valiant effort. Koz was seeded seventh in the qualies. Despite the post Bouchard won her match. Harrison qualified again for a tournament! Lost a match to sock

Awesome win by Johnson over Isner 76 in the third. Isner lost six 3rd swt tbs last yr. Johnson is one of the fastest moving atp players. Hes going up the rankings this yr.incredible match. Johnson clowned at the end catching an usner frustration sky high ball in his pocket like Bahrami.
