Two players won the Gentleman’s and Ladies singles titles this weekend that both tested positive for performance enhancing drugs last year and should not have been allowed to compete.
Tabloid columnist Oliver Holt said: “Jannik Sinner shouldn’t even have been playing at Wimbledon, let alone winning it. Bleak day for the tournament and for tennis.”
It takes a lot of courage and guts for a mainstream media journalist to speak that controversial truth. Sinner’s two positive drug tests deserved at least a two year ban, not an invite to compete in the world’s most prestigious tennis tourament.
The same applies for the Ladies champion Iga Swiatek.
This year’s Wimbledon Singles Mens and Womens winners are both confirmed dopers.
Will this 2025 The Championships be a turning point in tennis history in how the sport is perceived and accepted by the public? Remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, in Newport at the Hall of Fame Championships, Americans Zachary Svajda and Caty Mcnally won the singles titles. The runner-ups were Adrian Mannarino and Tatiana Maria.

@Pavvyg The @itia_tennis knew Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek both failed drug tests for performance enhancing substances, they decided to keep the results secret for months and let them keep playing. Both then settled with tiny bans in between grand slams.

@tosports13 it’s so funny how they banned russians and belarusians from wimbledon for a year despite them not doing anything wrong but they don’t ban two players caught for doping and now wimbledon 2025 is won by the two dopers lol

Although I was disappointed that Sinner beat Djokovic the way that he did, I was actually glad that he defeated Alcaraz . . . but not because I like him or anything.
It’s for these three reasons:
1) Because Sinner beat Alcaraz almost as badly as he did Djokovic, the latter’s defeat doesn’t seem nearly as embarrassing now. And at least Djokovic had a couple of good excuses: a) he’s 38 and b) he fell at the end of his previous match. What excuses does Alcaraz have? 🤔
2) Sinner’s win makes pro tennis look uglier than ever, which is a good thing.
3) All the Alcaraz hype was getting pretty nauseating. “He’s going to win 85 Slams!!!” Yeah . . . right. 😼

I watched most of the match. Sinner had 9% higher first serve percentage than in the French Open final and took huge risks on his 2nd serves. Carlos had some amazing moments but Sinner was just relentless and never lost focus.
The doping, yes, he made a mistake and got a lighter punishment because he had the best lawyers. All true but are you gonna keep him in tennis jail forever? The kid is magnificent and a stellar person as is Carlos.

Steve, we need to see Sinner tested with extra scrutiny because he has already tested positive twice. If he’s doing all this due to drug assistance, which seems plausible, then it’s Lance Armstrong Marion Jones Ben Johnson all over again. I don’t think Sinner has been tested once since returning from the 3 month vacation ban. Are Nike Rolex and Gaudenzi protecting the investment? These questions and suspicions need to be addressed. A lot of tennis fans are not happy with the inequality. Yes he plays super tennis. But maybe a lot of other players would too if they could take clostebol freely.

How do we know if Sinner hadnt taken drugs this time, because he was not tested.He should have been banned for 2 years,because he is not a good tennis player, if he has to rely on drugs.Wimbledon itself is a disgrace for allowing this to happen.We even have a ladies singles finalist taking drugs.Where has clean tennis gone too.I t is a shame for the players who do not do drugs and who work there butts off.!!

Barbara, there is a dark cloud over the sport right now and a lot of suspicion that certain players like Sinner and Swiatek are allowed to cheat and get help from PEDs. The powers that be haven’t taken any action to show the public that the two dopers are under the microscope and subject to extensive testing since their controversial returns from serving soft short bans. I believe only a boycott of Sinner and Swiatek would send home the message.

We’ve no evidence that Sinner or Swiatek are currently taking PEDS. So let’s wait and see shall we ? Any ‘boycott’ at the moment would be grossly unfair.

No info about if either has been tested since their bans, which you would think ATP WTA would be emphasizing to assure the public they are being scrutinized to the extreme to protect the clean players and integrity of the sport.

Sam I think it’s very possible Carlos did a Greg Lougainis to balance the rivalry, he had beaten Mr Clostebol five times in a row. I don’t care about what Federer says about Djokovic anymore. It’s all self serving or phony PR propaganda.
