Jannik Sinner was superior to his challenger Taylor Fritz in every aspect of tennis today and prevailed 63 64 75. The 23 year old earned $3.6m for his second Grand Slam of the year after winning Australian Open in January.
The world no. 1 player lost two sets all fortnight including his first set vs Mackenzie McDonald in the first round but was at his best in today’s full house final which included Elon Musk, Taylor Swift, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Seal, Tracy Austin, Patrick Mahomes, Jason Hamm, Matthew McConaughey, Dustin Hoffman and Jason Tatum in the audience.
Sinner never grunted once in today’s final, overpowering Fritz with his superior firepower off both wings and on serve. Both players used Head racquets.
The match was one-sided until midway in the third set when suddenly Fritz found some life by winning two important net points with an overhead winner and a volley winner. For a moment, Ashe Stadium almost resembled Louis Armstrong 1989 when 39 year old Jimmy Connors electrified the US Open with his magical run to the semifinals.
But Sinner rose to the challenge and asserted his supremacy when he needed it most. Fritz missed a key forehand volley on a game point while leading by a break 53 that could have spun the match into his favor. The netted volley made it 54 and Fritz never recovered. If Fritz can improve his volley efficiency in the future, he’ll return to the Grand Slam final stage.
But it’s the Jannik Sinner era now and that reality will challenge every player to try to solve this most formidable mighty tennis machine.

Fritz has improved his lateral movement but it will never be elite. Not sure how he beats the big two unless he can get to tie breaks.
BTW, the youngster you were hitting with yesterday has excellent looking strokes. I have seem him hitting around before.

Catherine, Sabalenka is the wta kyrgios, more charisma and spunk than the majority of wta players. iga, Rybakina, pegula, Navarro etc just seem vanilla in comparison. Felipe is really good player, excellent technique.
