The strong rumor is the Elizabeth Moore Sarasota Open will move again in 2025.
The last two years the ATP Challenger was presented at Payne Park in downtown Sarasota. But next year the popular tournament will move to another new location – further south about seven miles to the Sarasota Sports Club.
Previously the tournament was played at Longboat Key Club, Lakewood Ranch, Laurel Oak, El Conquistador in Bradenton, and Payne Park which supposedly had a long term deal to stage the competition, the only mens’ pro tennis event in the Tampa Bay region (Miami Open and Tallahassee Challenger are Florida’s only other mens pro tournaments.
Sarasota Sports Club is an older style club popular in the 1970s and will need major cosmetic upgrading to stage the elite tennis action. Those details are being planned.
Last year’s Sarasota Open was won by Thanasi Kokkinakis of Austraia. Daniel Altmaier of Germany won the title in 2023. Previous winners were Nick Kyrgios, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Daniel Elahi Galan, among others.
