Miomir Kecmanovic is has exceeded all expectations this year, starting off winning nine rounds to win a Sunrise Futures in late January, which caused Team Kecmanovic to change its goals. Since January the seventeen year old Kecmanovic has upped his ATP World Tour ranking from 802 to 476 on Monday. The highlight of the year was reaching the semifinal at the San Luis Open Challenger last week where he defeated Stefan Kozlov 62 75.

Miomir dominated the reigning NCAA doubles and singles champion McKenzie McDonald yesterday at Sarasota Open 61 62 though the Serbian had lost two previous clashes with the American last year which signifies how much Kecmanovic has improved in the last year. Next up for Kecmanovic will be Swiss Henri Laaksonen who he defeated in a qualifying round at Miami Open last month. Kecmanovic told me that his win over Laaksonen was the best he’s ever felt he’s played tennis. Kecmanovic is scheduled for a wildcard into his first ATP main draw in Istanbul next month.

Kecmanovic is humble and literally surprised at his sudden ATP success so far in 2017: “I honestly didn’t think it was going to be like this, It’s been a very nice experience so far,” said the 2016 ITF world champion junior, who captured the prestigious Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl boys 18s last year but lost in the final of junior US Open. One would think far bigger accomplishments loom on the horizon for this extremely talented young tennis player.

Thanks for the info on young Kecmanovic. After you talked about him earlier I added him to one of my youngsters to watch lists, so always appreciate any further information.

Jack Sock is now at No. 14, slowly moving up towards the top 10.

I haven’t seen this boy play, but he’s only 17? How tall is he? From the picture he looks like Escobedo. Hey Todd, good to see you’re keeping up with Tennis-Prose.

He’s just a tad taller than me. I will post the Kecmanovic Biofile before noon. He’s a solid baseliner with an uncanny ability to dominate. Not sure how he does it but he does it.
