AMERICANS ADVANCE TO SINGLES FINAL AT THE ELIZABETH MOORE SARASOTA OPEN

Laurel Oak Country Club Hosts $108,320 USTA Pro Circuit Event thru April 21
SARASOTA, Fla., April 20, 2019 – Easter Sunday will feature an All-American Final on the soft Har-Tru clay courts at the Sarasota Open.  Both Tennys Sandgren and Tommy Paul triumphed in their semifinal singles matches – albeit in diversely different degrees of difficulty – and will meet at 10:30 am tomorrow at the Laurel Oak Country Club.
Sandgren held a 3-0 career head to head edge on Marcos Giron but he was forced to save a set point vs the former UCLA NCAA champion, eventually prevailing 76 26 62.
Paul cruised to a dominant 61 63 victory over the 27 year old Argentine lefty Andrea Collarini.
Paul and Sandgren have played just once before, with the veteran 27 year old Sandgren winning 46 63 76 in the semis in 2017 in Savannah. Paul is 21 years old and currently ranked 204. Sandgren is currently ranked 111.
In the doubles draw, Luke Bambridge and Jonny O’Mara of the United Kingdom will face Martin Cuevas (URU) and Paolo Lorenzi (ITA).
Play resumes at 10:30 am. Singles first, followed by the doubles final.
