Postings From LaLa-land

Hi Sakhi,

I know you’re a big fan of the Los Angeles tournament. Maybe you can post some of your sightings/observations this week on this blog. I see Sweeting had a nice win today in the opening round against Devvarman and Ginepri lost again in his comeback. Geez, Nicholas Massu made it to last round of qualifying. That guy is going to go down with his sword. I’m interested to see if Denis Kudla qualified today. He’s become one of my favorite players. He’s a feel-good young dude, Vitas-looks and a cool, loop double-handed backhand. I also know that Spadea is playing in the baseline game they have that accompanies the LA event. They play three games of 21 from the baseline, no serving.

So if you have some good stories from LA, please use this blog to write them down.

I will indeed, as I live in el lay, as we natives say. I’m bummed that Devarrman lost –fitting since he beat Sweeting in Atlanta. I’m actually hoping to catch a glimpse of Gonzo’s monster forehand. I’ll be there all day Friday and will report fully then and of course share any tidbits before, if and when I have them. come west as they say!

This is a very good tournament. One of the best Agassi-Sampras clashes was in the final of LA in the 90s, they played it all out, like a slam final and it was a great match. Fish vs. Murray recently was a very good one. Always enjoyed this tournament and hope to visit it someday. How many years about have you been attending Sakhi? And what are some of your best memories, and most memorable matches you’ve seen there?
