Paul Pummels Sock In Atlanta

Tommy Paul, one of the rising forces of American tennis along with Taylor Fritz, Jenson Brooksby, Brandon Nakashima, Reilly Opelka and Sebi Korda, annihilated former American star Jack Sock in a 61 61 blowout. It was one of the worst losses of Sock’s career.

In their first ATP meeting today in hot humid conditions, Paul broke Sock’s serve six times in the one-sided massacre.

Paul will advance to play Soonwoo Kwon in the second round. Sock is still in the doubles with Rajeev Ram.

Sock enjoyed a third round run at Wimbledon, which was halted by Australian Jason Kubler, so this defeat will sting as no doubt the 29 year old expected more than a first round exit.

Sock has struggled vs. young Americans in 2022. Earlier this year Sock was beaten in Dallas by Taylor Fritz 16 46.

Sock also lost to Reilly Opelka in Delray Beach this year 76 67 16.

And in Cleveland, Sock was beaten by Michael Mmoh 16 12 ret.

Sock is currently ranked 106 in singles.
