Millman Believes Djokovic Should Play US Open

ATP world no. 76 John Millman had to withdraw from the ATP Mexico tournament due to the virus but based on his recent time in the United States, the Australian veteran believes it’s an injustice to forbid Djokovic from playing the 2022 US Open later this month.

Millman: “I’m out with covid. I was just in the United States and it didn’t really feel like too many (people) were following any recommendations or guidelines there. Which is fine, but therefore I can’t see then why Novak Djokovic can’t come and compete.”

“Let me be clear. If everyone in the country was following guidelines then I’m all for them enforcing a vax entry policy. But from what I saw pretty much no one was, the tournament allows non vax citizens to play and only 30% have had a booster.”

33 year old Millman’s best ATP ranking was no. 33 in 2018 and he’s won one ATP singles title, in Nur-Sultan 2020.

At this point it makes no logical sense to discriminate Djokovic from playing the US Open, when he was able to play in 2020 and 2021 when the virus flu hysteria was far more threatening.

Whatever happened to Americans are resilient? Americans are tough and roll with the punches and keep on going? Whatever happened to the spirit of “live life no fear”? Whatever happened to live a healthy lifestyle and just say no to drugs, especially drugs that do not work?

What happened was a complete undermining of traditional American values and a replacement with an ever expanding nanny state that wants compliance and control over ever expanding spheres of people’s lives.

Of course it makes no sense, but that’s the point. It’s power and control.

Millman is right – bravo – and this is nothing more than a witchhunt to make Djokovic (not that it HAD to be HIM, but rather it had to be SOMEbody and just ended up being him) the example of the victim who didn’t follow protocol. This is pathetic and as you rightly pointed out in another thread, Nadal’s record will have an asterisk next to it. This is NOT Nadal’s fault (altho worth mentioning that he did NOT defend Djokovic’s rights) but be that as it may, it will be a relevant question as Djokovic was strong-armed from competing in several grand slams, and will be prevented from competing in potentially MORE as this nonsense circus continues. Notwithstanding to my point is that Djokovic seems healthier moving forward and would probably vie for more than a banged-up Nadal. Djokovic, if anything will have a chip on his shoulder and more reason to burn rubber here, and, if anything, will have support of the people paying attention. We all agree that Federer is done.

Cory, it seems this is all about making an example of Djokovic and squashing him in USA for his quiet peaceful protesting defiance of a phony drug shot for a phony media inflated flu which was so scary (or harmless) that not one tv station, radio station or newspaper in the world ever shut down for. I agree, if Djokovic ever gets these leftist parasites off his back he is going to wreak havoc on the ATP with impunity.

Novak on the 2016 zika virus flu: “I did get more information on it. My decision is to go to Olympic Games, because from the informations and facts that I got, it’s not as it’s presented, it’s not as dangerous. Of course there is always a possibility that you can get that virus, but I think, you know, maybe the fuss and the buzz about that virus has been created with some kind of other intent. But I’m not going to get into that.”
