Lleyton Hewitt Comeback at 44!

Former ATP world no. 1, Wimbledon and US Open champion Lleyton Hewitt will return to the ATP World Tour today.

The 44 year old Hewitt will play doubles with his 16 year old son Cruz Hewitt at the ATP Sydney Challenger. Cruz Hewitt, ranked 759 ATP got a wildcard entry into the main draw and defeated Omar Jasika 64 in the third set. Last week in Brisbane Challenger, Hewitt used a wildcard to win one round in the main draw against James McCabe before losing in second round to Tony Wu in three tight sets.

Hewitt lost early at both junior Wimbledon and US Open by 63 60 scores but seems to be making a breakout now in late 2025 on the ATP Tour.

Like his father at the same age, Cruz is sponsored by Nike shoes and attire and Yonex racquets.

Lleyton Hewitt has not played an official ATP match since 2020 at Australian Open doubles with Jordan Thompson, a 26 36 loss to Nam and Song of Korea in first round. Wildcards Team Hewitt will play 19 year old Aussie wildcards Pavle Marinkov and Hayden Jones.

Update: Team Hewitt won 61 60 and Cruz won his singles vs Matsuoka in two sets.

Hewitt could be the first and only father son team to play and win an ATP doubles match together. This is miraculous.
