Journalist Has Dream About Djokovic Press Conference In Astana!

By Scoop Malinowski

A colleague of mine in the sports journalism industry is from Kazakhstan, she interviewed me about the great world champion boxer from her country named Gennady Golovkin earlier this year. We maintained contact and she recently told me she was assigned to cover the Astana Open ATP 500 tennis tournament this week.

My response: “If I could ask Novak questions… 1… 2021 was probably the best year of your career, 2022 may have been even better but it was interrupted by politics, do you feel 2023 can possibly be the best season of your career?”

“Novak Djokovic will play tomorrow in Astana, journalists will be able to ask him question,” she told me by instant message. “What do you think it would be interesting to ask him?”

“2… For the Laver Cup, did you ask Roger Federer to play or did Federer invite you to play? Who made the first contact about playing Laver Cup?”

“3… Federer, Nadal, Novak Djokovic, the three kings of tennis. Do you have any idea premonition on who the next, fourth king will be?”

“4…Have you read the book Facing Novak Djokovic by Scoop Malinowski? [smile]”

“5… Do any other athletes from other sports remind you of you?”

“6… Have you seen the world boxing champion from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin fight? Have you ever met him?”

It was at this point of our communications that the reporter revealed to me about a surprise element of her Astana reporting experience, “Yes, in Astana now. Morning. And at night I dreamed press conference Djokovic’s [smile].”

“I think that I dreamed about the press conference at night because I worked a lot.”

“When I work hard, I dream of working at night. I dreamed about the tournament.”

Djokovic won his match today in Astana vs Cristian Garin 61 61 and right now reporters at Astana Open are awaiting the Novak Djokovic press conference to begin…

(Stay tuned…)

It’s a very special and exciting life experience to cover and report on Novak Djokovic for the first time. )

Novak is still unsure about AO 23: Iā€™m still waiting for news about my ban from Australia. We will keep an eye on this. If this ban is lifted, then I can apply for a visa, and then, after receiving a visa, I can play in Melbourne. Of course I want to play there. There is less and less time left, but what will be will be. We will wait for a decision.

Someone in the press really needs to ask Novak if he has actually put in his application letter to the Australian immigration minister Andrew Giles for a waiver under grounds for compassionate an compelling circumstances that affect the interests of Australia. He said he is waiting for it to be removed, but it is unclear if he has actually applied for a waiver to his 3 year visa ban which was a PIC 4013 ban.

I just hope Novak is being correctly advised here.

Good questions Jesse, I will put this on twitter for Nolefam to digest. Though it seems Djokovic is unlikely to be kept out of AO 23 due to a sily technicality. Of course if the tennis deep state wants to further ban Novak from the AO they will find any reason or grounds to do it.
