Former ATP top ten Jack Sock revealed he has aspirations to un-retire and return to doubles competition on the ATP World Tour.
The 32 year old former Grand Slam and Olympic champion said on his podcast Nothing Major (with Steve Johnson, John Isner and Sam Querrey) that he has already contacted Miami Open tournament director James Blake about a wildcard into the 2025 Miami Open doubles draw with former partner Australian Nick Kyrgios.
Blake replied that the wildcard for Sock and Kyrgios is “under consideration.”
Sock retired from professional tennis in 2023 at US Open after losing in the first round in doubles with John Isner to Olivetti and Galloway 26 63 67. The last singles match Sock played was at 2023 Sarasota Open, a first round loss to Tristan Boyer 63 46 67.
The best career ranking of Sock was no. 8 in singles in 2017.
After concluding his tennis career at age 30, Sock switched to professional pickleball but he did not manage to dominate the fast-growing paddle sport or win any major titles.
Sock won four ATP singles titles and seventeen more in doubles. His highest doubles ranking was no. 2 in the world in 2018 and he earned just under $12m in career prize money.
With the nine highest ranked doubles players in the ATP rankings all over the age of 30, it seems logical that Sock can once again regain his dominant doubles level of play and perhaps ascend over the likes of the ATP top 9, Arevalo, Pavic. Thompson, Granollers, Zeballos, Puetz, Mektic, and Krawietz (Koolhof has retired).
