Is The Balance Of Power Shifting In Pro Tennis?

A couple of stunning results already in the first few days of the new season could be a microcosm for a balance of power shift in pro tennis.

Sebastian Baez had lost all six matches previously to Taylor Fritz but he solved the puzzle last night in United Cup and prevailed 46 75 64.

And Casper Ruud was 0-2 vs Alex deMinaur, losing straight sets 46 46 at the Acapulco final 2024 and in a lopsided 14 04 24 at 2019 Next Gen Finals RR.

But Ruud finally solved the Demon puzzle yesterday at United Cup 63 63.

For two such surprise results to happen in the first days of the new season suggests something is in the air and I boldly predict this trend could become contagious and we will see more and more unexpected results where losing players figure out how to solve their puzzle rivals.

The tone of the new season has been set by Baez and Ruud.

Something else to consider. Carlos dumped Ferrero as coach and you have to wonder if it’s time for Fritz to shake things up and bring in a new voice, a new coach with new ideas to supplement Mike Russell’s hard work?
