Iga vs Danimal Rivalry Resumes At Wimbledon

The most fierce rivalry in women’s tennis will be showcased at Wimbledon The Championships.

Iga Swiatek and Danielle Collins will resume their hostile, competitive relationship and face each other in the third round of Wimbledon. The Polish woman and former world no. 1 leads the head to head 7-2. The American spitfire won the last time they played in Rome on red clay earlier this year. This 10th clash will be their first played on grass.

The Iga vs Danimal feud erupted at the Olympics last year where Iga won 62 16 41 ret. Collins quit and said she had abdominal pain supposedly caused by cramping from a lack of cold water from her previous round match win.

There were some controversial moments in the Olympic duel. Collins pegged Iga with a shot which put her on on the ground. Swiatek took a long bathroom break after losing the second set. Collins was also annoyed by Iga holding up her hand when about to serve, in effect stalling her. Obviously there are tensions between the two combatants.

“There’s a lot that happens on camera. And there are a lot of people with a ton of charisma … (who) are one way on camera and another way in the locker room,” said Collins. “I don’t need the fakeness.”

How these two fierce competitors conduct themselves on Centre Court at The Championships will be closely scrutinized by tennis observers.
